[Sorcerer] Dark Exchange - Cast Time

I just dusted off my Magicka Sorcerer and noticed one thing that really annoyed me within my gameplay. In my opinion the current cast time of Dark Exchange should be lowered from ~1.0s to ~0.8s to match the cast time of other abilities like Crystal Shard. This way it would be less disruptive to use in your rotation without breaking the ability from a balance perspective.

Any thoughts on this from more experienced players?

    Oh boy, with the current state of magsorc in Cyrodiil I'm not sure it's the time to bring this up.

    Idk what's your preferred content but for pvp it should be fine if you have BoL, I run streak so I usually cast it after a cc break.

    I am talking from a PvE perspective but i honestly do not know how this changes would break the Sorcerer in PvP environment? There have been huge changes to champion points, armor passives, set boni and base stats so there's not really a way to tell how PvP will play out in the next weeks, is there?

    The only thing i can tell is that Dark Exchange feels clunky whereas Crystal Shard feels okay. This is should be pretty much the most important factor in the game and is probably the same reason Snipe got changed for example. Balancing the PvP and giving classes quality of life changes should be two completely seperate topics.

    And that's the problem with sorc today, almost everything feels clunky. So sorcs mostly resort to frags proc and weapon skills. That's it.

    Wish I had a decent spammable with a stun or even aoe.

    The cast time was once increased to 1.2 seconds and had a weird delay on it upon finishing. I use this on a Sorcerer tank, that's my only experience with it.

    You're poking the hive. It would be nice if it was even faster but what then what's going to change along with that adjustment. They could ruin it again instead.

    You're poking the hive. It would be nice if it was even faster but what then what's going to change along with that adjustment. They could ruin it again instead.

    I mean im just asking them to quite literally reduce the cast time from ~1.0s to ~0.8s. The skill barely has any animation so there should be no gamebreaking bugs?

    In general, it makes sense in your proposal, because lately all skills have their casting time reduced just a little below the world delay. Even if you look at the changes to this super dizzy swing skill

    I don't think bugs are the concern. I think the concern is that it will be made significantly weaker to compensate for the cast time reduction. Would you still want a 20% cast time reduction if it came with a 20% reduction in the duration and effect? I'm pretty sure that having to cast it 20% more often would more than counteract any gains from having it fit neatly within the GCD.
