I wish questing didn't feel like a chore.

It's kind of ironic. I usually prefer questing in MMOs. Some people are happy to just wander around killing things, but I prefer to kill things that are related to a quest. The sense of purpose engages me.

However, in ESO it's begun to feel like a chore and I couldn't quite place why that was. The I realized it's because one *has* to quest in this MMO to progress. There's really no viable alternative to questing and it's the "you have to" that's taking the fun away from it.

Not at all true.

The people who progress the fastest are the ones who barely quest at all. Grinding gives much more reward vs time investment. So much so, that grinders hit 50 VR10 within days of launch.

If you don't want to quest OR grind, you could focus entirely on crafting and exploration. Get your skills purely from skyshards, dodging around enemies who are obviously much stronger than you since you aren't a combat character, and invest those points into crafting.

As for questing, that's of course subjective so can't blame you if you don't like the quest system. Personally I'm the polar opposite of you. Every other MMO I've played I hated the quests and didn't even read the dialogue. On ESO however, I listen to every single quest dialogue with great interest and genuinely love the quests.

Just walking in a random direction and gathering/killing has proven to be just as fast as questing to me. So i would imagine the grinders are having a field day.
