Should Battlegrounds have a REAL ranking system (Like some Leagues or "Levels") ?

Hi,
I love battlegrounds. Even if the proc meta is pretty annoying - we're not in Cyrodiil so no test here :D - I think Battlegrounds are fun. Yes, some players are unkillable. Yes, some player can 1shot you. But Battlegrounds aren't all about kill, most of the time these sort of players just don't play the objectives.

But, I think battleground need some "Leagues"/"Ranking" system. A REAL one. The main problem with battleground is the level of a player, and if they actually care about objectives or not. A rank system should allow "High tier" player to play with player that have the same or almost the same rank, and let the "Begginer" or "Casual" player play with each other. With this system, ranking shoud add a real "reward tier" like in Cyrodiil.

Battlegrounds are the only think that look "competitive" (This ISN'T a real competitive game of courses, we're in a MMO) so a Matchmaking based on your actual level rather than your RnG seems good for me.

What do you think ?

Some competitive arena would be dope like 2vs2 arenas etc. To avoid stalemates they could add a damage taken debuff that increases over time.
BG are the next best thing but the no cp force makes it a proc fest sadly

No. Implementing skill based matchmaking (SBMM) will directly result in longer wait times for the already lengthy Battlegrounds queue as the game tries to match players of equal skill only and fails miserably in doing so; we have Emperors in this game who might as well be Citizens in terms of how little they actually played PvP to obtain their title, two players with the same rank could have wildly different ability. Sure, I don't think players who have been playing PvP since this game came out should be getting matched with level 20 folks who just wanted to enjoy a fun game after a long day at work, but seeing what skills, sets, and maneuvers more experienced players use can help many people see what they need to be doing to improve and strive to emulate. Also, smurfing is a thing; this wouldn't prevent experienced players from queueing just to crush lower tier players, they'd just be able to pump out dozens of clickbait videos like "Unranked to Grand Overlord??? 35/0/1 CRUSHING the Competition!!?1" that much more easily.

Unfortunately the bg player base is too small for such systems.

After playing bgs for about a week in the current system, I started to get 10 - 20 min queues and played with the same 3 - 4 players (+ randoms from lower mmr) every match.

If bgs was more populated I'd be all for a more complex system. But in the current form I'd prefer an even more simple system than the one we have just to cut down queue times.

There already is a type of soft SBMM to place players in matches

Or...implement a good system with worthwhile rewards and rankings and the population will naturally increase because there’s a real system there to support it.

Isn't there sort of such a system in already? I think it is trying to put you in with people of same BG rank (I'm not sure if it's going off your current BG leaderboard position or something else there) but it doesn't really work when there's like exact same 12 people doing BGs and really no one else to pit you against. Generally such a system is good but BG population is abysmal, they really do need more incentive or something.

Might get more player involvement if they weren't getting waffle stomped by much more experienced players

I've never had a long wait for solo Queue, and I don't mind getting sorted with new players. We lose some, we win some. If we don't win we can play again, takes less than 2 minutes to queue and get in a match.

I always felt like true class v class balance in other games came from competitive tiers. I also think it adds a HUGE swathe of replayability to any game.

or maybe it is so small because it is so bad?

I dont know if thats still a thing but there was "ranking" depending only for how many times you was playing bg, doesnt matter wins/loses ratio, you could lose almost every time, have done hundrets of bg's and so matched with other people with hundrets of bg's but actually good players who was more winning than losing so it mostly was already predictect you wont win this fight also

and you as exp pvp player you could create new character only to start from "0" in ranking of this character and being geared up and with exp get grouped into beginning players who actually could play 1st time this mode or just pvp....just like creating new toon only to join for ez kills from under 50lvl campaign with crafted set for every level ready to stay on top

if we could just get account split from non-exp players and exp players for bg's to not get exp veterans against beginners it would be great start to encourage new players here as they wont get instantly destryed out of respawn by close meeting with old exp player

Only group queue seems that way. Most rounds in bg for feel fair. Like game could go anyway

This is very much needed.... currently it is based on the amount of games you play..... your mmr only ever goes up and never down..... this is really really bad for both high end and low end players considering high end players normally want a challenge and low end wants to learn.... but if a low end player plays to much he might find himself in the high end margin just getting eaten by the wolves..... mmr needs a win loss system with different tiers so people can face their own skill level players rather than having low tier players thrown into the deepend

I think separate queues for random BG's where you can just play the way you want, and then a ranked system that had good rewards (like really cool skins, gold) would be ideal

Maybe you guys are right and a new system will bring in more players to bgs. Which would decrease queue times. That would be great. But I remain doubtful.

I think if the system is better more ppl will actually play. Maybe one day, we'll se sone e-sport tournament on ESO's bg, who know lmao
