Why don't you fix so many small really annoying bugs ZoS?

This belongs in the General area, not the bug report area! Please don't move it!

I have a general question I wish ZoS would answer: Why are so many little flaws never addressed?

Many quests have glitches or other things that make them very challenging to complete at times, including some that are dailies in the various zones.

These are not huge issues and some could be fixed by simply moving a quest objective slightly, such as one in a current event area.

The fact that things like this can hang around is really annoying and adds to the other current problems to make me wonder whether this game is worth spending time in, if it will be around for a reasonably long time.

I would really like for someone official to comment on this.

To be fair to the ZOS team, managing a game of this size takes no small amount of work from a dedicated team, and they've been fairly good about putting out content patches every 3 months that usually shake up the meta a bit and introduce new stuff. We're getting a massive overhaul to CP, one of the most requested features for a while now, along with balance changes and new dungeons, and the patch after this will introduce Companions alongside a huge story expansion. Now, with that said, I agree that it's particularly egregious how small but obnoxious bugs have a tendency to persist despite multiple reports and a rather sizable portion of the player base becoming aware of them; Wayrest dungeon is absolutely RIDDLED with bugs and has been for years, blockcasting feels terrible, and there's a FREAKIN' CORN BASKET in Red Ruby Cave in Cyrodiil that's marked "steal" despite everything else in there being free to take. Who staked a claim to this corn basket in the middle of nowhere? Why can't I simply grab some corn to go on my way through the delve? This injustice against corn cannot be allowed to stand.

Target do not work correct 2 years.

Some skills did not work 1,5 year. They fix this skills only now on PTS.

Even large Bugs have no fix yet.

What small bugs are you talking about ? ;)

One of these things I always thought was pretty firmly in the "this could be fixed in 2 minutes" category (even though I'm not a dev, so I guess I shouldn't speculate)...

You ever be harvesting with a character who has the Keen Eye passives, and see nodes that are just under the ground, or inside a rock or whatever? And now with Scrying/Excavating passives, I've learned of lots of chests that live inside/under the world too.

Well, I used to habitually /bug report those when I found them; complete with screenshots, map coordinates, and a description of the issue so there's no confusion. Years go by, and they never get fixed. I go visit those "Lost Nodes" now and then, just to check on them. Nope.

I get that it's low-priority, but... c'mon. Seems like an intern could take care of ALL of them in one day, right? Just bump all the affected ones up the Z axis 1 metric smidgen globally, and 90+% would be auto-fixed. Pull the others out of cliffs/trees/etc by hand. Done.

    Oh well :/

    That's awesome! :D

I hereby declare "that one corn basket in Cyrodiil" to be a feature, and not a bug!

door in Wayrest is not bug, you agro the crocodiles in the water because you damage them through that grate from above when fighting skeevers, and then they stuck you in combat.
it is indeed bug but it's the classic combat bug that sticks on you for long time and for long distance, is not a specific dungeon door bug
and about this long time long distance combat bug, that's also in Cyro, it happens that you heal someone and they keep in combat, keeping you too

Because spaghetti development. Complex projects can be made either in shortest possible time or to be easily maintainable. Not both.

Sometimes finding that "five minute fix" is like finding one specific needle in a pile of needles. Not impossible but a lot harder than we all assume it to be.

Also, each and every small fix has to go through multiple stages of verification and QA (contrary to popular belief, they do try to have QA ;D), tying up not only a developer's time but also testing capacities. In the end, the cost-benefit calculation doesn't work out.

Tampering with code is not as easy as one might think. You need to locate where the issue is happening, why it is happening, then whether it might affect other classes or create further issues if you tamper with it. Sometimes it is best to just let it be, specially if it's not gamebreaking as with the node issues. I presume node positioning is calculated dynamically, so there is a chance trying to fix the buried nodes might make the rest of them float up into the sky. I'm speculating of course, but it is likely the reason they haven't fixed that is because it might cause more problems, and in the end, they're just a bunch of nodes when there are plenty others.

Gamebreaking bugs are a completely different issue and should be adressed, and are likely adressed. Sometimes it's just not that easy. Not trying to defend ZOS, mind you, I don't work for them, but I am a programmer after all and I know a bit that there is no such thing as a 5 minute fix. I wish there was. Just spent a week fixing an issue myself that was ultimately fixed with a few lines of code, but to get there I had to spend hours reading code I had not written and making a lot of tests to understand how it worked and then plan the best approach to fix the issue. When you're working with multiple classes it can be quiet challenging just to trace the code.

Yeah, lot's of little buggies. Door bosses, skill bars not being active in combat, blocking doesn't work when you need it most and of course the black screen of death where the game goes black but still runs and you can hear everything.

it's simple: fixing bugs doesn't make money (until we talk about bugs that diminish profits like broken crown store or "free chapter for everyone")

Moving things, as someone noted above and one quest in the event faces, is not a huge issue with the code. Just move the item a bit. That should not require a code change.

Yes, the other things are just as annoying, but having even smaller things around multiple years is a very bad thing.

I get you saying they are working hard....... But some of these bugs have been since launch and ruin the game experience. VMA is one where so many stupid things happen at most of the stages along with DSA.

Yes producing content is cool, rehashing old content for people to re run is meh, but rather than pushing out your next dlc spend time fixing old stuff especially when you buff stuff from it and want people to go there.

And as far as them trying hard, they gave a test server where a lot of stuff gets reported. Rather than. Fix issues they let it go from test to live and most of the time that doesn't get fixed. If stuff is broken it should be fixed on pts before going live, even if that means it is delayed a week or two. These bugs get into the game because the devs don't play their own game and if they do they ignore it even though a huge outcry is to fix the game.

I haven't played in a year, game is too biggy for me. I just got a ps5 curious if that helps at all........ But the way the devs rush to fix crown store issues the same day but have broken content such as wayrest a day 1 dungeon.......... That just shows where their "hard work" actually is.

Also just look at cyrodil it has been messed up since light patch years ago. People reported that and they ignored it and kept moving on update after update after update. Now they have done so many updates they have trouble finding code that was broke back then. We used to be able to have huge fights without lag, now you try to fight more than 10 people and people are lagging so bad.

Again the devs need to fix broken stuff and stop putting out new stuff that is broken.

It will be around for a long time because people spend crazy mk eh in the crown store. The game is on a spaghetti code and doesn't work to what it's supposed to do most of the time.

So gameplay wise other games are better because they won't fix bugs. But it will be around because people that complain also sub or they buy crazy stuff from the crown store. All you need to know is those crates that came out show they just want money. People spend $300 just to get a mount because there is a currency you get from trading stuff in lol.

Some of them are odd. Removing the three gators at the start of Wayrest so they don't fall thru the world and combat bug the door would fix the issue. Simple fix that doesn't impact the dungeon at all.

If you kill them you won't have to deal with door bug. I just force groups to kill them now as tank. It is generally faster then waiting on game to fix itself. The REAL nasty wayrest but rarer one is in Wayrest 2 a player has the quest and a group members says F all and speeds to the end the entire instance breaks and you can't open the door. Since the mob needing to open the door is now stuck under the world somewhere. Quite funny when it happens.
