Between transmutation, increased drop rates on transmute crystals, and the stickerbook, there are so many convenience options available for changing around your gear. Being able to literally change one item into another is just overkill.
It is one thing to be able to reconstruct an item you previously collected, another thing to never have to collect it at all.

The sticker book solves lots of this problem to as people are more willing to give up an bis weapon after a run.
Before you wanted to hold on to it as you might want to use if for an alt.

So you do group content only for items?
Not to meet people, not for fun, not to experience the dungeon, not take on a challenge, not for the story, not to achievements.

To my knowledge, I never mentioned any of those things in my reply.? Feel free to inform me if I am incorrect.. What I DID mention, was that your idea would give people even less reason to go into group content.. are you saying that it is not so.? Because the way I see it, with your suggestion, we don't have to run it as much as we do now.. just get any weapon, and you can have the one you need.. let's take HRC.. I have never, ever, run it without getting a weapon.. now I can just grab any 1 item and get the weapon I need.. so let's say 12 runs total for weapons.. 12 is not a high number by any means.. now after those 12, why would I go there again? With a good sharing group, I will have the armor too.. now I could not care less about HRC.. that removes me from the pool.. me and many many more.. bad call

I posted here that I would do it again to help others because I know there is a step up for progress to get the item and not random chance. My time isn't wasted on waiting for random chance. It would make me want to interact with people more knowing I am moving them towards something rather than just waiting and using random chance to proc for them. These old mechanics are done. They work for the beginning of the game when there's many people running it but it fails over the lifetime of an MMO. It leads to the death actually because nobody is going to waste time waiting for proc to occur. That's why prices inflate. Less people are doing the content and nobody will waste the time for random chance. Having a system that progresses you to what you want is a strong solution that not only helps you but everybody in the game.
