At first, she shows up to squash Molag Bal's plans of Nirn domination. She's not at the forefront, but without her, the vestige would not have succeeded.
Then she shows up to help rid the Imperial City prison of its invaders, citing revenge for her alleged tribe. Again, she does not do anything herself really, but point the team in the right direction.
Now she's helping stop ... Mehrunes Dagon from invading? A completely different Daedric prince?
She doesn't come across as a normal dremora. She's always part of the plot to thwart major Daedric invasions. So I'm going to throw this out there:
What if Lyranth is Boethiah? Think about how the other Daedric princes would fare if one got a hold of Nirn. And Lyranth is always there to throw a subtle wrench into their cogs - using deceit of mortals and Daedra alike to achieve her goals, without directly doing it herself. Boethiah's spheres of influence directly oppose those of Molag Bal (domination vs. overthrow of authority) and you can't have a revolution if you're destroyed (Mehrunes Dagon's all about turning everything to ash).
