Please bring back the "Elimhir Private Arena" this Black Friday! This would make an excellent house to host duelling competitions in! so many fantastic ideas come to mind! our guild would be incredibly happy if we could purchase it!
I got this house over a year ago, last time it was in the store, and I'm very happy with it. I made a khajiiti water temple dueling arena in it, and here are some of my discoveries:
- Dueling and housing are a bit of a poor mix because you can get knocked back into furnishings and trapped. It's such a bummer, but you can adapt. I had to rework my build to make sure I had very very few large furnishings at player height, and have a friend test knockbacks with me. That also makes this a perfect dueling house because you can't really craft a duelable arena otherwise (though you can be creative and careful, of course)
- You can walk/build onto the lava in back all the way to the lavafall 😳 Lotta space there, but I had to block the back patio and lava area off completely to furnish the arena part properly
- While the traps are awesome and sorta the point of the house, I don't use them for duels often lol. I still think they're cool, just not AS cool as I expected them to be
This is a really awesome player home, but too expensive IMO. I hope they continue to add homes with utility and unique features like this, especially with dueling in mind—more houses like this could tempt more PvP players into housing :~p
You can make a fairly functional arena on your own if you want to spend the time on it. Other than the getting stuck in objects problem; there is also the problem that you cannot assign the same attributes the normal ground floor has to items. So, you can’t make the arena in the air because any ground effects will tend to just fall through whatever you use as the floor or just not work.
If you want a textured floor you will have to keep the flooring object clipped into or really close to the actual ground floor. You will miss some of the ground aoe visuals but for the most part they will still function.
