I like no proc PVP for the most part. It doesn't really effect my build all that much anyways. I will say a few things.

-Primetime performance was pretty awful last night on PC/NA GrayHost. I quit after my third crash, and the lag was BAD. It was pretty darn good until about 6:30 est.

-ZOS needs a basic science class. I hate that they reintroduced cross healing for the test. Control your darn variables. Was performance bad at primetime because cross healing or did proc sets have no effect. We cant know based on this test. This is not meant as a comment on the merits of the changes of healing, simply how you conduct a basic science experiment.

-The list of what sets count as a proc is going to need some work. Basically anything that is remotely conditional counts as a proc. Most of these sets arent the issue, at least from a gameplay standpoint. They are going to need to figure out how to allow a lot more sets, or we are going to have like 3 builds that people run.

If you are gonna try to bring up basic experimental practices of study per "science" then you need to accept the empirical data. Wheeler (ZoS employee) has stated the cross healing was not a significant impact on performance during that test.

Cross healing is not an issue, that's "science"

What we don't know yet is if by Cross Healing Wheeler meant:

    (i) The server-side effect of multiple instances of rapid regen and other heals being spread around on multiple targets or
(ii) The server-side effect of the behavioral change that Cross Healing prompts: multiple people gathering together, while (i) is happening, and dragging out fights for a long time.

    Or perhaps both.

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

Well no, cause I'd like all the sets except damage procs still working, you know? They can. Easily bring those back even if the test fails.

Just remove damage procs and rework arena weapons.

I think the testing direction is right but no proc sets for real ? Hell no.
ZOS should upgrade the server capacity and game coding to meet the eso requirements nowday.

Not had any difference in lag, with or without proc sets. So for me it's not an issue, however. I do feel that the maximum of proc sets per player should be one. It'd make pvp all the more fun, like it is now.

Ball groups struggle to be ball groups, and generally it's all major zergs now, but currently there are less unkillable players. I actually enjoy how it is, and still stand with my own thoughts on one proc set maximum per player.

    I like proc sets.

Now all i see is or 1 on 1 battles i win in 2 sets and some random 6 parts of gear or 12 mutagen spammers group, i can not do anything to.

    Lugs are just the same.

All this game must do is :
Limit dot hils per target !

It is not ok when people run with 12 the same mutagen buff on them !

    Limit it to ONE.

Hots were buffed when dots were buffed. No dots are nerfed, hots are overpowered !

I farm my sets to use them and by DLC to farm them.

Why can not i use something i buy, payed for with my money and time ?

Now i run only 2 sets becouse - it cost is 30 k+ per part of useless gear !

Blue rings cost 30 k !!! Some people sell and get a lot of money from nothing !

So buy full gear i must spend 14*30k - it is not OK !!!

It is live server, not some pts !

I buy game and want to play, not to test !

Removing sets do not help, if you do such test GIVE us sets for FREE than !!!

Why i must spend to much money each time, becouse of some tests that do not help.

Real problem is server overload. Proc sets that do load on server can be easely find by group if people, as example by just kill a lot ofmobs the same time.

As example of thus sets is Azur Blight.

Why players must spend 14*30 k money for such tests ?

People write that no lags - NOT TRUE.

    Lugs like hell the same.

Skill works with 5 seconds delay in prime time.

Potions, skills, dores do not press the same !

What is the point than ???

I'm kind of hoping they will discover some other source for their performance problems. I'm glad that people are having fun fighting without proc sets, but it ruins my style of Cyrodiil play entirely, which is doing scouting missions and repairing walls. No Mending, no healing bonuses, no Darloc Brae to keep me from having to make a million stops to regain stamina, and no Wild Hunt to shorten the scouting trips to a more bearable trek. :/

The forums are a small minority.

Most people use and enjoy proc sets. A lot of them look really cool too - the game is downright boring without their effects.

That being said, going forward there should be one campaign without proc sets. Then you'll truly see if it's what players really want.

Procless campaign would be good. Just damage/stats battle royale with people whacking each other constantly to pieces and not being 64 health proc monsters

I personally enjoy the current limitations on gear, it was a lot of fun, until the *lag*.

And it was truly terrible. I'm actually sad. I enjoy this "meta" a lot but I couldn't play properly, at prime time the lag was horrendous. My ping looked fine, but everyone was teleporting around, time stopping, abilities not firing, bar swaps not registering, channels lasting forever, being dead but still moving for a while with low ressources etc...

While I love the fact that cross-healing was enabled, it doesn't make sense to bring it back during a test to assess the impact of set calculations on performance.

Also, learning that some specific sets are considered proc sets scared me a little bit when it comes to the quality of the code.
Willow's Path? Proc set. Eagle Eye, Proc set. Sword-singer ? Proc set.

What I take out of all of this is:
A no-cp campaign with limited sets would be my favorite option.
Fixing the lag will be a very long process, maybe new servers will help, but probably a lot of the code/configuration has to be overhauled.

If anything, this test proves that ZOS has a skewed perception of what a proc is since they think any set that has to check their conditions constantly is a proc. To quote someone "NMA has to check if your ability is an ability."

They said they were disabling every set bonus that triggered a procedure call. Which is what, "proc," is short for, in case that was unclear.

And then they disabled every set bonus that triggered a procedure call, just like they said they would.

As for NMA, without knowing what the scripting looks like on the back end, I suspect all cost modifications are executed through procs.

So all of a sudden just because ZOS says anything requiring a check is considered a proc? Even though many people thought that any set that gave free damage/utility was a proc? I find it very interesting because nearly all sets are on the proc list so now the people that want procs back are justified because things the community didn't consider procs are now on that list.

On the one hand, I don't like being autokilled by proc sets in PVP.

On the other hand... As a PVE tank, I have also discovered that the Leeching Plate and Bahraha's Curse sets are *also* not proccing in Cyrodiil... and it has made the difference between me being able, or not able, to solo clear a farm, mine or lumber mill of just its NPC guards, because my actual damage is low enough that I enjoyed having the protection of the leeched health from my two sets to keep me alive against the NPCs for long enough to take out the menders and then turn on the honor guards...

    There is no "just because"....

This is a problem on the players end assuming the association of procs matched what zos was intending on testing internally. It doesnt matter what many people thought. People that complain about proc sets on live are not exclusively the proc effects that the developers were ever referring to when the test was announced. The absence of proc sets that players hate was a welcome effect of the test but that was never the exclusive target of removal. The only ones complicating this are the players that assume their definition of proc sets was the correct one amd those that dont fully grasp how these types of things work under the hood of the game.

Wheeler and team wanted to remove item sets that required a call to the sever to produce an effect or sets that send a question to the server to answer. Disabling the "cancerous proc sets that plague pvp" was simply a byproduct of this test.

This was never by any stretch of the imagination a "we heard you guys hate proc sets, so we are going to disable them and see if it helps performance in cyrodil" type of test.

It was only ever "we are going to see if the quantity of server queries initiated by set bonuses is having a measurable impact on performance in cyrodil" full stop.

If it weren't for performance (Ravenwatch, PC-EU) being one of the worst I've seen in a long time yesterday, I think I would've really enjoyed PvP during the first day of tests. Eliminating procsets definitely didn't do anything about performance, but the quality of PvP in terms of what factors determines the outcome of a fight was much healthier.

That's strange...my performance was flawless on the same server yesterday o.O

That is because some people are saying things not entirely accurate to push their agenda. Lag has gone down, to what degree is debatable but it has gone down. Also, those OP builds no longer make players unkillable or stupid op death machines, the lie was put to player skill, all can see now that OP PROC builds were just that OP and cancer.

Notice the significant majority even on the forums crediting with removing PROC builds as making the game more fun, this was also the theme in zone chat PvP yesterday.
This, today was my first day in Cyrodil after the test started and it was fun, lots of large fights, combat felt faster probably because of an lack of troll builds.

Here we agree, now the cool down on AoE was generally hated, it was miserable to play, this was doubled with fear an that they might enforce this onto the rest of the game, and the devs said this and was pretty enthusiastic about this.
I guess the results was some benefit but the idea was probably vetoed anyway, lets not have an Kodiak moment drinking new coke while watching the last Jedi. Yes it would solved lots of performance issues because far fewer would play the game it would hit everybody very hard from casuals in public dungeons to progression groups.
And ESO would get an Nerdsslayer video

If anything, this test proves that ZOS has a skewed perception of what a proc is since they think any set that has to check their conditions constantly is a proc. To quote someone "NMA has to check if your ability is an ability."

that's quite some coding logic there ;)

Let's not mix things up... Conditional =/= proc. Conditional is checking if something is a stamina ability. Proc is rolling the die, e.g. 10% to activate an effect.

Tbh is sounds there has been poor coding if they treat "ifelse" conditionals as procs.

I was quite shocked at NMA too tbh...

Anyway, I'd love to see no procs in Cyrodiil for good.

move half the crap checks to client side, including proc percentages. Sure some may exploit, but logging could be used to check (ie logging not a requirement to proc).

There would be far more than "some" exploits. Client side percentage checks are easily hacked.

MY emphasis. Yeah the old bait and switch. PvPers complain about specific sets that do uncapped damage or self heals without the players doing anything much skillwise, or compromising on damage instead of heals or resists etc so ZOS remove seducers/ bright throats NMA etc?

The coding sux if the server has to check every second if I have a drink buff active. This is the core of the problem. The coding and the poor server optimisation.

Oh and the lag in Grey Host NA PC was horrendous still. HUGE ping spikes and the usual nonsense with door weapon swaps etc at 2am USEST but that maybe broken nodes due to broken jet stream in Texas.

The gameplay was more fun for those of us that actually enjoy using combat skills...and our own ...to fight other players.

At least the OP proc sets should be weakened.

Tons of things actually used to be on client's side and everything was nice. Everyone was also hacking a ton 😂

Honestly I feel like this performance thing will never change no matter what they try. They would have to re-code the whole game.

The forums are a small minority.

Most people use and enjoy proc sets. A lot of them look really cool too - the game is downright boring without their effects.

That being said, going forward there should be one campaign without proc sets. Then you'll truly see if it's what players really want.

    use =/= enjoy

most people use proc sets because they are forced to stay on lvl and not be free kills for others or be able to do anything at all besides being just free kill as I already mentioned it

    Here's a description of one

Casting a Magicka Ability has a 35% chance of causing your next Crystal Fragments to be instant, deal 66% more damage, and cost 50% less Magicka.
