ESO, YouTube, and copyright question

One of my guilds has asked me to record some events (Trials, housing, contests, etc.) and post it on a YouTube channel.

So what is ESO’s policy towards YouTube content exactly?
Can I capture in game footage with (more to the point) sound and post it to YouTube? Are they going to hit me with a copyright strike if I record the in-game music?
Is everything in game ok for me to record?

I am not looking at making an income with this, but I don’t want to get sued either.

Thanks

On console it's common practice to record a pov of yourself in progression trials and share it with the group via an app like discord.
This is done hundreds of times a day...
    It has been for years...
You aren't going to get sued...

You're 100% fine. I've recorded 100s of hours in this game on PS4 and posted on YouTube with no issue.

Ordinarily with Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, some of the ambient Music Tracks will get flagged and prevent you from monetizing a video, but that hasn't happened with ESO.

They aren't going to sue you for posting a content video on youtube. It is free advertising for them, why would they sue you? People do copyright notices on ESO related websites and if you was republishing one of the game trailers it would be a good idea to have the copyright notice in the description. You are fine with POV user created content though.

I get that, but really I am more concerned about in game sounds. A lot of YouTube content I see has the in-game sound lowered or gone completely with someone’s doing a voice over.
The plan right now is to have no voice over and in-game sound heavily present. A more “natural” look. Is this ok?

Ah ok. This is exactly the info I needed.

    Thank you!

People only do that so you can hear them clearly. It's common Let's Play practice. No one wants to hear a person yelling over game sounds.

Ah, there is one thing I would be cautious of now that I think of it.

I wouldn't include the title screen when you turn on the game, where it has the current game chapter icon and plays a variation of the Elder Scrolls theme.

Its not likely, but still possible, that YouTube might pick up on that and register it as copyrighted content. Your video won't be taken down or flagged for TOS violation, but it might get some annoying adds that you don't want.

Just wait until you are fully loaded into the game with your character before recording and you'll be fine.

Oh! I was not planning on capturing that screen, but that is good to know!

    Thank you again!
