Combat pet skins

priestnall.andrewrwb17_ESO
I know ...I know it’s been requested a million times before. Can we please get some <lore friendly> skins for combat pets in crown store. I cannot think of a single reason *other than a weird desire not to print money... this isn’t a thing - WHY NOT!?

I never understood why they only did it with the Warden Bear and only once, seeing as how many non-combat Scamp reskins ZOS has released that could(I assume) be applied to the Sorc Scamp.

I guess that since some classes would feel left out they didn't bothered to expand that system, so I'll probably never get some Soul Cairn skins for my skeletons, although I don't know if that would be lore-friendly.

The entire playerbase will benefit from this decision, not just the pet users... As a non-pet user, I'm tired of seeing this wherever I go:

Now notice how beautifully the dark bear breaks the monotony.

@ZOS_GinaBruno pls give us pretty pet skins :(
  • priestnall.andrewrwb17_ESO
It’s purely cosmetic, the framework already exists (as mentioned), pretty sure all sorcerers would throw money at you for it. Why don’t ZOS like money? Seeing the same pet for six years is a bit boring. This is the lowest hanging fruit EVER.

There are so many cool bear mounts in the game that I sometimes wish that ZOS would release similar skins for my Guardian bear. Sweetroll Grizzly, Snow Bear, Masked Bear,... would look really great

So yes plz, more combat pet skins :)

Yes this could be cool the sorc pets at least need updated models becise they loo' dated now.

Also off topic it would be good if they re vamped the base game as the over world looks dated in comparison to the dlc

This is such a good idea. It's really strange that this popular request has not been granted.

As the principle of re-skinning exists across the entire game then skinning combat pets should not be a hard task; hopefully.

I will support this every time I see it come up. I'd love to have some alternative skins for combat pets.

Top of my list is a non-flapping replacement for the twilight. Almost anything would be an improvement for me (except maybe a spider daedra - I'm arachnophobic).

I'd also like a wolf skin for the warden bear, like the ones some of the Wyresses and Reachmen in High Rock summon.

I'd also like to see more regional or racial themes for the warden pet in general. Like a reptilian one for argonian wardens, a dune racer or something for Hammerfell and so on. It has to be animals which fit the stats and abilities of the bear of course, but I think it could work with several different animals.

You're right, it's a licence to print money, as a sorc main, I'd spend some crowns on changing my scamp and storm atronach every now and again

I agree. The Verminous Fabricant is just a reskinned Clannfear so it's not like they need to redo the entire model or something.

I do feel that if they add skins for the Winged Twilight, it's going to be another flappy thing like the Harpies or Bats. At least make them smaller I guess.

That's one thread I'm really happy to see come back regularly.

Give me an armored Clannfear, the skin already exists!

The models are already in game, the framework is already in place with the category that holds the grey bear, we are willing to pay money.

    Please!

With all their focus on the crown store it's indeed baffling that isn't a thing yet.

The part that confuses me is they've already got a lot of the work done to enable it, except of course for creating the models, because they've already done it with the warden bear. They've got 2 skins for it, and a tab in the collections menu that lets you switch between them, so it seems like a lot of the work is already done.

I assumed when Morrowind came out the grey bear would be the first and they'd gradually add more skins over time like they do when they introduce a new mount or whatever. But for some reason that was the end of it.

Give the combat pets new skins based on annual chapter theme.

As everybody here points out, everything is in place to make it happen. So why not?
I am thinking there has to be a pretty darn good reason.

My bet is on the textures and the meshes of the original models. I am confident, that the engine probably can not animate properly with those pet meshes. After all a combat pet and the non combat pets have different animation patterns. There probably would be distortions and weird textures.

Plus, if you think about the Indriks. They are reskinnable, so to say. But you cannot revert them. So there will probably be problems with the textures and swapping them out. After all the engine is pretty old by comparison. And summoning different pets everytime, might break the summoning skill es a result.

It doesn't take a lot of time or effort to import an existing model's texture map into an editing program and tint, lighten, darken, recolor or change contrast on it, or plop some stripes or spots or shading on a new layer on top of it. I don't think the skins are the problem. It could even be done to be more like dyeing an outfit, where you are just staining a base layer a new color. Imagine color-coordinated daedra to go with your theme!

Yes please. Make a few for the sorcs, and let's us turn the bear into a cat or wolf, along with other bear skins. This is one of those things I'd gladly spend crowns on, especially a combat cat.

I never meant that the textures wouldn't be convertable.
Besides it is probably an engine problem and how the engine has to handle several identical sets of textures at the same time. And that this whole thing will probably not go without substatially changing the ABILITY.

The Two Bears look different, because they are TWO seperate abilities.

There are so many possibilities with this, maybe being able to dye your pets in outfit station, or being able to use mount/ non combat pets as skin for combat pets, shouldn't be that hard to resize them . While we are at it, maybe make the Winged Twilight land on its feet and follow you on ground when not in combat and make it fly only in combat. You know, something like this:

    screenshot-2014-05-04-10-47-08.png

Also, maybe make pets transparent while in cities, or atleast make it possible to interact through them.
Better try something and fail , than don't do anything and not know the result.
