So the the Unstable Morpholith pet would be upgraded to a skin? That sounds a bit weird to me...

It's only weird if you think about it. You can turn most pets into skins if you're adventurous enough.

Then you'll be able to get a personality, mount and a house later this year.

This is their solution to people complaining about endless recoloured indriks. They're keeping the core of the system where you collect tickets, buy fragments, make an item, collect more tickets, buy more fragments and turn it into something else but adding more variety so it's not just variants on the same mount over and over.

I think it would have made more sense for the first step to be a memento instead of a pet, but I suspect they want the advertising - players will see the pet in the game and wonder what it is and where to get it, which leads them to this system and participating in events. Mementos are used less often and unless you're looking at the right moment you don't see them, but pets are persistent.

I like the variety, also makes each quarterly reward more exclusive and feels rewarding compared to the reskinned indriks.

Think of all the different possibilities! What might the morpholith develop into next year? A robe? A cake? A new companion/wife named Petra (as "petra" is the ancient Greek word for "stone")?

    Sorry, had to :p

Yeah, the specific term the team uses is, "billboarding." The pets literally advertise the current event. Also, the multiple slots thing is no mistake. Finn commented that they'd moved towards a mix of rewards with each dungeon DLC so you could have both rewards active at the same time. (Though, I forget the exact phrase he used.)

The concept is cool, a house with a guardian spirit, like Calcifer in Howl's moving castle or the shushu in the Krosmoz universe (Dofus, book 1 : Julith, there is a demon merged with a house).

But better than that, give us skins that turn into a combat pet! I'd love a Dro-m'atrah Clannfear on my Sorc :p

Collect more tickets and wait for the next event, where you'll be able to buy the second item to make the skin, then repeat the process in the 3rd event where you'll be able to complete it.

I always try to make sure I end an event with 10 tickets (or close to it) in case I'm not able to play next time. That way all I need to do is log in briefly to pick up the reward I want most. If you're confident you'll be able to play the next event or not that worried about missing the skin you could spend any more tickets you get on other things (or just stop doing MYM).

I think the skin makes sense as the first item. Across the multitude of play styles in this game, a skin is probably the most commonly appealing to players, along with personality. PVP players aren't going to care about a Memento, since they can't ever use the things, and neither will the super hardcore, no nonsense PVE players that exclusively run Dungeons and Trials.

The selection of items this year (Skin-Personality-Mount-House) are an almost perfect selection of items that will appeal to the most players. I'd also suggest Armor/Weapon styles, but we get those during Events anyway, so it works out well.

What I don’t like is the idea of losing your pet and upgrades.

Personally I don’t care about pets, but I do like skins and mounts.

The pet is consumed each time you morph it into another reward, requiring you to collect tickets to make another.

Thanks, I was about to ask how it works. And you morph the pet each time? I mean, you get to keep the skin, or emote, or mount, rather than morphing them into the next thing?

I mean, it's an Unstable Morpholith. Kinda implies it can turn into all manner of weird things, which is clearly their intention with using it.

@SeaGtGruff Yes. If you look in the dev tracker you'll see Gina confirming at the start of the event is that all you need for a thing is the pet. Chain is, pet -> personality, or, pet -> mount. The steps between them. So yes you keep the skin if you morph the pet this Q, then if you want the mount in Q3 you need to get a new pet which you then morph into the mount.

Also, if you want to keep the pet after all of this is over, you'll need to get a fifth copy of it in Q4. But, yeah, the other upgrades along the way stay. It's only the pet that has to be collected multiple times.
