Could we get alts as companions?

Companions is a nice idea for casual players, but from what I have seen so far, we only get a couple of NPCs which are predefined.

How about having alts as companions in the future? Or allowing a friend to have one of our chars as a companion when we are offline?

    HAHAHAAH, LOVE IT!!!

i'd immediately delete 2 old characters and create 2 new ones and level them up together around a theme...!!!

I don’t really buy crowns anymore nowadays but I’d happily pay to have my alts as companions or houseguests.

Who would want an Alit as a companion? *cleans reading glasses* Oops, nevermind. ;)

Seriously, I do expect there will be more companions available after they get a chance to refine things with the first two and see how they work.

As far as alts, I can imagine that would be fun for many, but not me. All my 'alts' are exactly the same little elf except for class/spec. Same appearance, same name (with absolutely minimal game-constraint tweaks), same mount, pet, etc. When we log in, she literally selects which class/spec to play as casually as she selects her hairstyle or outfit.

Sure, but their unique personality traits and background stories and likes and dislikes aren't dependent on their hairstyle or facial features.

Actually, you're right. I've seen it more from an artistic perspective, the follower being like a character from a novel or movie, some kind of complete, predefined work of art in itself. But then again, if people want to customize the appearance - giving them all the freedom that's possible for their enjoyment doesn't seem wrong to me.

Honestly, my primary concern is that they are interesting and have depth and interact intelligently with the world. I want them to be complex and add to the lore and have preexisting relationships with other NPCs. If you've played Skyrim with the Inigo mod, he's like my ideal companion standard. He feels like a person. Aesthetics are secondary, but aesthetic customization is much easier to ask for and it's something much more likely to be added if they aren't already contemplating it.

Also Bastian is the most basic looking Imperial I've ever seen. Give the man a cool scar or something, jeez.

I'm a bit concerned about that, too. Some people assume it will be like the companions in Fallout 4, but then again, that's only speculation. No normal user here really knows how complex they'll be or not. When I consider that you don't have many different dialogue choices in ESO, that dialogues mostly do not change if you are, for example, a vampire, and all that... Also, companions having "different likes and dislikes" and a disposition bar could be complex - or it could be just an extremely simple thing, like that the disposition falls if you steal or murder. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah, I'm in between excited for the possibilities and really not wanting to get my hopes up. Even the most recent content has the world utterly disregarding things about your character (Fennorian doesn't want to enter the Temple of Meridia because he's a vampire, but doesn't mention that I am equally vampiric and I can't mention it either), so unfortunately I imagine the companions will be much in line with that. There's so much cool story potential to be had with them, I'd hate to see it wasted and made shallow. Especially because Rich said they want to lay the groundwork for eventual romance in the future.

Exactly. To make it really immersive, there's so much to be done, also so many dialogue adjustments (which they certainly won't do for older areas)... I'm really sceptical. Ah well, I guess in the end I'll be happy enough if there's a bit of travel commentary for the place you currently visit, and a few interesting extra quests.
