Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

So, whats the general consensus on the state of the game?

Been away for quite some time. I even unsubbed for the first time after around five years. (Used to let it tick for crowns but things are either to expensive like mundus stones or simply not worth buying)

Own the vampire chapter but never played it. As a nightblade main i found it insulting after being skipped over for the class overhauls way back when.

New update looks mildly promising and like a sort of return to roots for the game with the cp and armor rework.

So is it worth coming back in 2021? Has performance in pvp or pve improved? Has gameplay changed at all? If so better or worse?
Most importantly for me personally, how do magblades feel this season? Vampires? Magblade vampires? I played one in both pve and pvp and they felt like trash (cluncky as hell and significantly more effort to reach parity with other classes) when i left; have they improved?

Or is this still necroscrolls online?

I enjoy the game but honestly it is a laggy buggy mess.

When clicking an action a person is foolish to assume the action was taken by the server.

Personally, I think that at this moment it isn't worth coming back. I'll explain why:

    - Performance:
Last year proved that performance is an issue that ZOS can't control very well.

They announce that this year they will focus on improving the performance (at the cost of releasing almost non-existance new content apart from new map with quest). I'll leave to everyone to judge if this year is the one or if it is like everytime they said it on the last 5 years.

But as someone said, still laggy.

    - Gameplay:
Here there is a duality between the veteran players and new ones.

They have clearly shown that they want to focus on the new players, making the game like a theme park is some aspects (i.e: making combat more slow/clumsy with changes such as casting time, less player skill and more proc sets...)

I, as a vet player, do not like it but this is my personal view.

    -Regarding your last questions:

Vampires aren't in a good state. Some very particular builds (super squishy ganker) can use it, but generally not worth it.

Can only tell about PvP: Sadly every class sucks if you don't wear proc sets. Cyrodiil is full of tanky wardens and necros with+40k health that only kill with procs. Regarding magblade you can do something if you wear them but you will encounter that you probably won't be able to kill.

This has hurt offensive stats dependant builds and specially nightblade core function: ganking. ZOS hasn't yet realice that if you go with a glass cannon build, the idea is that you should do more damage to a tank than he does to you XD

So nothing has changed. I was still able to kill before it just felt like utter trash to play and entirely to luck dependent. Solo battlegrounds on the other hand was pretty nice but since i couldnt play with my friends it lost its appeal quickly.

Its a shame ive been feeling the itch lately but what i want is what the game used to be. I miss the days of summerset.

Anyone on the pts care to chime in? The new update and patch notes are what drew my attention to begin with.

I used to enjoy the game, but with all the Lag/Rubberbanding/unresponsive key presses I wont be buying any expansions.

The unresponsiveness is a killer, it is imo thenbiggest problem thos gake has. no other MMO i have played was as bad. It is basically an expectation that thenkeys you press will very oftne just not register with the server. This is from a giy who live sin he same star]te where the servers are -husically locted. I can not imagine the pain of others.

    I guess it depends.

You like lore? Well we're getting more of that, even if it is pre-lore to the Oblivion game it's still lore. I like lore, so that's a positive to me.

Unfortunately...everyone else here is correct. I'm not on PC, but Xbox still has the issue of "I pressed this button, nothing happened, now I'm dead in the middle of a dungeon because my block didn't work or my shield didn't fire". The lag is severe in some places where it's just annoying in others, a lot of old bugs still haven't been fixed, the combat bug on Xbox is still happening where everything will lock suddenly and you have to roll-dodge backwards to force it to respond again (no techniques, no bar switching, no selecting anything). Grinding Rimmen Necropolis for the mummy cat drops causes this lock-bug to happen anytime I encounter a bone colossus, per example, which makes that a huge annoyance.

I'm hopeful they'll be better this year. ZOS announced new updated servers but also commented in the same breath that this wouldn't fix performance issues. Soooo....not really sure what to recommend. I still enjoy ESO, I just know I can't do certain content due to bugs and stuff.

It's the same old same old, awful balance changes, performance updates made the game worse, ZoS ignoring feedback. I would imagine 2021 will be rinse and repeat of 2020 etc

take a look at the video in my signature if you want to see what pvp is like. Its a clip from last year but i have plenty of clips that look exactly like it from the last week. Theres no point in uploading them to anything since zos is aware, hasnt fixed anything, and its all the same stuff. Thats what i deal with every day and it sure does make for a fun, rewarding, experience in cyrodil.

Performance is definitely an issue. They are working on it, but it has actually gotten worse for me personally. I have a lot of desync these last couple of months. They are replacing the servers this year which they say won't have a big impact on performance other than prevent hardware failures. I think they are being conservative on the not affecting performance because people get a bit carried away if something doesn't measure up to expectations.

I would say its worth playing. The game population has consistently grown every year. ZOS has a content release schedule they do a good job of sticking too and their are some big changes such as changes to CP, armor, and then intro of the companion system.
