So... What's this I see about companions?

Left ESO for about a year... Just came back because I saw some talk about companions... So I'm here for 2 reasons:

1. Want to find out more about this... Like when will it be going live? What powers will they have? And are they on the pts yet?

2. Because I'm pretty, (some ppl will hate me because of this) I wanna gloat for being right🤣😅... I recommended this year's back and was mostly met with ridicule... I was almost mocked off the forums for having such an outlandish idea... look who's laughing now! 😝

3. I wanna thank the devs for listening to ideas they think may be good, despite the naysayers and giving it a shot...things like this keeps games going...fresh ideas and not being complacent...and it makes us feel like we are genuinely part of the community

4. I want to be a role model for all the little kids out there...be an example to them by letting them see that "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!" *KG voice* https://youtu.be/Wcz_kDCBTBk

    What powers will they have?

The power to make people open up their wallets and give cash to people.....that's the only power I'm aware of so far, more info closer to June when the next chapter is released.

    Oh, and this:-

They are going to be kind of combat pet and also have their own questlines. And aren't they themselves a reward for quests?

They're part of the Blackwood expansions so presumably you can't use them without that, but whether they're rewards in a quest or you acquire them in a different manner we don't know yet. I mean pretty much all we know for certain right now is, "they're coming" and everything else is speculation and conjecture.

Makes no sense to me. I solo the silly game and its fun. What would a Companion do for me? I can solo Dolmens with my new char, and several of my older ones have soloed all the original World Bosses.

I have no use for one and it would just die a lot, so pointless in my case. As I just got Greymoor on sale, to bring my very old game up to date, the price of Blackwood will have to drop a lot before I go there.

I don't have a problem with other people having companions to help them, nor do I understand the people who are up in arms about this for that reason. If people need/want help or companionship with whatever they're doing, whatever it is; sure, why not? I like people to succeed and be happy.

What I'm NOT looking forward to though is seeing a million more clones running around all of Tamriel, annoyingly trailing players like a conga line of bots farming mats in zones. Bad enough *edited* people run around with their Tythis / Nuzimeh following them, and their glowing waist-high pony, followed by their noisy Clannfear and obnoxious and overly-flappy Twilight... now we're adding yet another NPC creature to the procession. All hanging out in town, near the crafting/banking area, with 16 other players who've all got the same stuff (or a dopey-a** bear blocking interation). WONDERFUL. I'm honestly not sure why this isn't more at the center of the discussion, but I've come to realize this must be one of those "me" problems that other people just aren't as petty about. : p

But seriously, why is so much of the player base so quick to ridicule people who want some help doing whatever PvE stuff they're up to on their own time? Unsettling trend.

Do they hit like a wet noddle or actually have decent power?

Do they take up a group slot or can a 4man dungeon group each have a companion?

can you equip them with any gear?

    What is their skill pool?

The only way i think this can be useful is to help with Hm, no death and speedrun challenges in dungeons. IF they dont take up a group slot. otherwise if they do take up a slot, hit like a nerf gun, and have crap skills... probably only going to be used by new players.

I really hope they arent meant to help make the ridiculous questing even easier and have more use than for beginners needing a pocket heal while questing

What I'm excited for is My GF and I play together and neither of us enjoy playing with people we don't know. If these companions can perform at even half of the average player skill level "Lets be honest the average ESO player sucks" then the two of us with two companions could mostly ignore randoms for nearly all dungeons.

    a companion takes a slot

Does that mean that it's possible to dungeon queue into a group with an someone else's RP companion that is almost guaranteed to be less functional than a normal player?

That's going to turn dungeon queue into even more a minefield than it already is.

this is gonna be a problem. a potato person queing with his potato companion. so now a crap person takes up 2 slots in group content? And still no vet que?

That assumes you can queue up with a companion out, which far as I can tell, we don't know if it possible.

I don't like the idea. More reasons for lag and crashes. But they may come in handy when you have 4 people trying to finish a harrowstorm or dragon. If they die do you revive them with skyshards? There better be khajiit companions.

I've heard so far that there will be only 2 companions to choose from at launch in June. Also that you cant take them to pvp but maybe everywhere else. If they are allowed in dungeons they shouldn't take up player slot because they are summonable like merchant and banker. Most likely they will be something like Lyris when doing quests, hitting like wet noodle, keeping agro on few mobs and or giving you some heals. I dont expect them to be too intelligent and replace real human players.

because maybe they want people to spend money hence why it is not feature for everyone. That is common sense when looking at the marketing lol...
