Selling something? Can't see chat.
Opening loot? No Chat.
Crafting writs? Nothing.
Switching characters? Goodbye chat for like 5 minutes.
Using a wayshrine? Nope.

Now I'm sure this also affects PC players at some spots and while I'm sure there's a technical limitation, I feel like when you can't rely on chat and notifications to be reliable, it makes using them to communicate dicey at best.

Chat should be much more important to ESO than it currently is. If I am forced to listen to someone's rap music in Vulkel Guard for 2 minutes while the game loads, I should be able to read the chat and see any notifications that pop up.

Without more explicit detail to what the issue is... maybe it's your settings? Chat seems to work perfectly fine for me with no problems at all. On a console. Infact i have the reverse problem, it stays up too long when i'm not using it unless i open the menu to force it shut instantly etc.

If you open your trader or bank, it disappears. If you craft an item, it disappears. If you select a place to teleport, it disappears.

It disappears in all those places with PC too. However, the PC UI allows for re-opening the chat while most menus are open. Thus we only miss out on a few seconds which unless there is a rapid conversation going on, it means that nothing has been missed. And I think there is a setting that allows the chat to reappear whenever there is a new post. But not sure if that is PC only or not.

Definitely not the same on console as far as I can tell. There's just too many places the chat disappears where it very much should not.

I would love to be able to see the text chat while sieging in Cyrodiil. I can only see if someone standing in front of me types something and I see it above their heads. The chat window is not visible then.

You can press the quick chat button combination to get the chat to open in banker, merchant and convo window. Even works with siege.

It used to be so that if you were like shopping in guild stores, there was an audible blong when your cyro queue was ready. Now there is no sound and you can miss the reply time for the thingy.

Okay.. so you're actually complaining that the window closes when you do ANYTHING that opens a screen up. That's kind of the design's point. otherwise it's "chat won't go away when i open any other User Interface screen and it's in the way!

If you're playstation just press both start and the middle pad button. it should bring up chat again.

If xbox probably similar buttons, start and the back button (I know they've been renamed but they were oribinally Start/Back buttons before xbox one release and i've never been able to wrap my head around the lack of logic in their rename)

Or.... plug in a keyboard, and whenever you miss the chat for like 2 seconds, press the enter key to pop it back up.

But as it is now, it doesn't need any changing

Thank you, wish this was common knowledge.
