any thoughts about companion AI and how adjustable could it be?
For example: can i make a tank bot with ton of HP regen, who taunt boss and will hold next 15 seconds in Meditation? lol

You can take them for dungeon runs but we all know that Mary is just gonna stand in stupid or aggro all the mobs and die in 2 seconds while she's trying to heal you with a bow 😂

Mary is said to be a thief - so she is likely to be the companion of stealthy characters.

I would be surprised if "thief" and "knight" were much more than flavor. I suspect they will both have the same AI and behavior options.

If you thought warden bears and sorc flappity flaps blocking writ turn-ins and crafting stations was bad, wait until 90% of the player base also has their own (additional) pets! ;)

Finally for solo players lol? 95% of the game can be completed by a level 20 in blue training gear. It's it not enough unless 100% of an MMO is completeable solo? "Endgame" is now just vet DLC dungeons, vet DLC trials, and PVP kinda. They even added weapon drops to the normal solo arenas. This game has been turned into something practically entirely for solo/casual players with practically nothing to do "endgame"

Maybe allow them in dungeons only if you're the only player in them?

While i personally would like to see all the normal dungeons at least once.. i get convulsions at the memory of swtor when they nerfed the content and buffed the companions...

Its a much lesser evil to continue to miss out on dungeon content and leave it whole i think. I hear you can solo normals anyway with the right build?

In Skyrim there were - I guess - 3 companions, which were more sneaky than others - one of them has been Jenessa in Whiterun. So my guess is, that Mary will have a small detection radius to not break stealth, when she is roaming nearby. The other extreme (knight) has been Lydia - running into any trap trying to protect like a body guard - as in preemptive action.

So maybe they will do it like this as well - Mary the stealthy one, sticking with you - and the other preemptively defending you like a body guard would do.

As a solo player who mainly farms/collects/trades etc I'm excited for this to try content that generally I would not try a second time. I've done all of the normal dungeons but they were always PUGS so we just flew through them - as you do. :P I can solo a couple of the lower level dungeons on my own but hit a wall eventually. (Terrible DPS). Hoping this new companion system will allow me to go through the dungeons at a slower pace without bringing the group down or having to bother other people! <3

I think the next step will be:

Create character .... activate it ... watch it play the game.

Why companions in a mmo game? This game is just so casual... nothing for end game players.

Because MMO should not force people into social interactions for 90% of content. Because "MMO" abbreviation does not mean "there should be no combat pets (which companions basically are)". Because having a combat pet adds to variety and fun, not excluding social interactions. I hope, I could answer your question.

90% of the content IS solo and doesn't require social interactions, and then we get companions because of people whining and complaining that they want to do group content but couldn't POSSIBLY do said group content with another human being in an MMO because ewww other people.

    More like "ewww elitests."
I cant seem to grasp how other people like to be lead as fast as possible through an area meant to be explored as defined by the word Dungeon and by quest text.

There's just as many people who whinge on the forums about having to play with any other people AT ALL, as those who whinge about elitests. Let's not act like there aren't people who just want this to be a single player game entirely and the only problem is """""elitists"""""".

IMO I think a good portion of the "Easy Overland" complaint stems more from the Story Bosses being too easy (bosses of both the zone stories and main story). All too often we do a quest that builds up its Antagonist like the biggest baddest dude on the block but it always leads to disappointment.

The Dungeons and the Trials being the only places with truly epic fights.
People still remember the mini-boss in the fighters guild quest "Pre-One Tamriel" because of how Hard she was. Challenging fights are Memorable fights and Main Story Bosses should be Memorable.

Now TBF - I am currently playing a fresh nightblade and dragonknight and some overland content can still be difficult, in that I have been killed or almost died when attacked by 5-6 enemies rather than the standard 3.

So my advice to ZOS would be

    1) in overland or enemy design, maybe increase the radius in which enemies pay attention to you. Take the single player games for example, if you killed a guy there was a likely chance you had a team of 5-8 people coming for you. This is certainly the case for ESO public dungeons. This upped the stakes way more in comparison to the measly three we usually fight.

    2) Make the Main Story Bosses HARD. Give them a Veteran Option for player seeking a challenge.
Especially If you are going to make Dungeons more part of the Main Story - otherwise you have this incredibly inconsistent story experience where the lackeys are more powerful than your Main Villain who You Hyped and Built Up over the course of the Story for a Year!
Also make them a solo or group instance because having someone else come in and kill them when the fight starts just kills the mood (Looking at you Kaalgrontiid)
