The sexism in today's trailer reveal and discussion live stream was kind of jarring

Kinda cringe that the trailer's big emphasis was 'woman trio strong' and then Pete's immediate discussion point afterwards was to literally say "We just saw a pretty powerful trio of women, care to tell us about them?" whilst completely ignoring the argonian guy who was a part of their party. Even though since argonians are a big important part of the chapter, it would have been cool to know who he was.

Considering the past two chapters have had a major focus on 'women = big stronk, men = corrupted bad guys or incompetent fools' I am not too excited for the narrative experience this year if this live stream is anything to go by.

For the record, totally fine with strong women in media and especially in ES. Love Lyris for example. However, shoving it down our gullet like this is a bit jarring.

I think it feels a little too forced, tbh. Like... I love strong female leads, however this doesn't feel like it's organically done and is done in a way to force the representation without really giving too much thought about WHY they should be represented.

As for the Argonian, yeah. I feel bad for that guy.

Really? Having three women in a trailer is too much? Is it sexist? Let's see the definition of sexism: "Sexism is prejudice or discrimination based on a person's sex or gender". Now you tell me: a single trailer with three women in it is sexist? Did you see any discrimination against men? Good God. People these days, I tell you. People these days.

Nah, no one cares of they are "represented". I certainly don't. It's just so sad and cringey to watch developers pull out these characters, like action figures on their shelves, and metaphorically hold them up pronouncing "like what we have, it is women, and they are STROOONG. Bask in our vitrtue!"

No, if he had just mentioned the argonion guy too I'd have been fine.

Considering Pete went out of his way to VOCALLY put emphasis on them being a trio of powerful women, that felt kind of jarring to me.

What do you expect after two ex-pacs of saving princesses? That we would not get another or more Womans to save? Clearly plus just looking at their devs and such you already know it will be SJW stories mostly :/. Heres to hoping story is better than Boremoor.

Yeah, Pete literally ignored the argonian's existence and specifically said "Let's talk about the trio of powerful women"

To say they weren't at least forcing it a bit is very blindsighted of you

having three women in the trailer isn't too much either. It's the fact for the past two expansions we've seen nothing but weak or incompetent men with the main focus being on good/strong women. Not to mention, again, Pete going out of his way to completely ignore the argonian guy.

All of this wrapped into one leaves me with a jarring feeling.

No one cares eh? Not the OP whose first lines included that poor argonian male and complaints of sexism against men? Haha.

I'm all for a discussion on false virtue signaling especially given the makeup of the crew that did the talking during the reveal event etc etc but that is not what this thread is about.

We didn't really rescue either of them. We watched one of them skip through Falmer infested lands with a bow and a light summer tunic. I'd say we were royal observers of their greatness, and part-time boot licker.

Didn't seem "shoved" to me. I'll just refer back to my original post in this thread.

I guess next time they should have sexually ambiguous characters in the trailer. Oh wait, people will get triggered about that even worse... crap. There's no winning this, I guess.

It’s just the third Chapter in a row where it’s women = good / heroes and men = corrupt / villains.

It’s getting stale and boring, but hey, that’s how it is nowadays.

No, it isn't forced. You know why? Because these situations happens almost everyday, but most of the times the ones ignored are the women. Show me trailers of video games with any focus on women from 20 years ago. Women are finally getting some crumbs, but NOW it is forced, isn't it? There's nothing forced when men dominate the industry, right? When 99% of the main characters are men, everything is dandy.

Yeah, I'm discussing the false virtue signaling and forcing a narrative that seemingly has come to a head with this trailer/ live stream. After two expansions of 'women good/strong, men incompetent/bad' and then Pete going out of his way to completely ignore and even refer to their group as a trio of women just felt a bit jarring and worth mentioning.

Well, the argonian did the main job - freeing the hostage - the female trio provided the distraction. We have seen this kind of tactics in many quests before, so where is the problem?- Both did their part to achieve a common goal.

yeah, that's not my issue. Again, my issue isn't with the trio of women in the trailer. It's with Pete literally not acknowledging the male argonian or explaining him at all as well as calling the group a trio of women. He went out of his way to put emphasis on the "group of powerful women" -part of the exact quote

Even though there's a dude there that kinda did an important thing.
