This is fantastic. I am curious what the story-reason will be for allowing us to do this. Looks like we do a bit of a tutorial, then go through a portal to our respected DLC/story. Perhaps they could use this as a way to explain why we can do the stories/meet characters out of order...

I hope I'm wrong, but from what they were saying, it will just be a basic tutorial and then you'll start in a zone of your choice. You WON'T go through that zone's tutorial.

So, you go through the basic tutorial and you click to start in Elsweyr, you DON'T get to see the story-tutorial where you fight the dragon. You just get warped to a random shrine in Elsweyr.

If you go through the basic tutorial and you click to start in Morrowind, you DON'T get to see the story-tutorial where you escape from the slavers and meet Naryu. You just get warped to a random shrine in Vvardenfell.

It really sounds like they're REMOVING all story elements of the tutorial completely and just having a basic tutorial and the option to pick what land you get warped to.

but will choosing the original tutorial make you lose out on the skillpoint of the chapter tutorial?

As long as the tutorial is attached to the main quest in some way, shape, or form to make the character the Vestige it works for me.

I'm less enthused. I really enjoyed the Morrowind prologue story, as well as the Greymoor prologue story. They both featured some of my fav characters in the game, and I liked the bits of extra lore they came with.

Summerset and Elsweyr had not so exciting prologues (except for the dragon part), so I can't say I care as much about them.

Interesting, and hopefully not just a bare bones tutorial as some are interpreting it...but they need to give us more character slots so I can test it out, dangit.

I do hope we get to choose which tutorial we can start with. Gina and Jess made it sound like you get one tutorial, then choose where your starting area is
So the Dark Elves have weird alien architecture, where people live in mushroom towers and the shell of a giant crab, but the High Elves, the pinnacle of technology, the most magically advanced race in Tamriel, are still stuck in slightly pretty, fairly tall stone buildings? Not even a hint of a glass city? Are stainless glass windows really enough to claim that a city is made of glass?

Very true! Well, I have 6 slots I can buy on both PC EU accounts - but nothing available on NA.

That's how I understand it as well. Basically they did the exact opposite of what we were asking them to do. So much for listening to us.

You get to choose what story zone to go to AFTER the new tutorial, not which tutorial to do.

It's just so strange to me. They spent all that time and energy and money and creativity developing multiple tutorials... some of which, at least, were very good... and now instead of opening up all of that content to be able to go back to it, they're.. what, just getting rid of it? It makes no sense.

I know right? Meeting some characters in the prologue, like Naryu, also resulted in them remembering you later and having more of a rapport starting out, which changed how they react to you. So there was that work that's now going to be lost as well.

I thought that when they first mentioned it, but then it sounded like 'Standard tutorial, then start in a specific zone.'

I'd really like the old quests that go with them, so I'd hope they mean that there's a standard combat tutorial, then it just funnels you into a tutorial quest of your choice. If all it is is a tutorial and then lets you out of the door in a specific zone, we basically already have that with wayshrines.

Really hope we can go back to old tutorial quests...

That's how I interpreted it. Then again, that's also what I want, so my bias might have warped it into not being what it is actually going to be. If it ends up not being this, sadness commences.

    I completely agree.

But, how probable is it even? Have they ever removed story content for good?

I mean, my guess is that they're not removing it removing it. Like if you started a character already, and left them halfway through the tutorial, you could probably go back and finish it. But if it's locked away where you can never use that tutorial again for a new character, even if it's for the latest chapter you own, then effectively they are throwing away content.

When Morrowind's "Broken Bonds" became the official tutorial for new toons then "Soul Shriven in Coldharbour" became the first segment of the main quest.

With this standardized tutorial and the new start your engine way the old tutorials ("Broken Bonds", "Mind Trap", "Bright Moons, Warm Sands" and Bound in Blood" ) could also become the first segments of their respective zone (Chapter) quests.

Well, maybe not "Broken Bonds" as we also have "Breaking Through the Fog".

During the afternoon of Loredas, 6 Sun’s Dawn 2e578 a big piece of Aetherius fell to Nirn. It was the first major piece of Aetherius to fall on Nirn in more than five hundred years. It scattered around the world as millions of shards. It was rapidly documented by Lady Cinnabar of Taneth in her pamphlet Aetherial Fragments that "... when three shards meet, they re-form into a silvery prism by unknown process and confer the power unlocked by the merger to a nearby being." The Order of the Black Worm, commonly known as the Worm Cult, reappeared in Tamriel shortly thereafter and some of its members are avidly searching said shards.
In the last week of First Seed 2e579, an arcane explosion occurred in the Imperial City — a night of storms, and trembling terrain. They named it the "Soulburst". That day Emperor Varen Aquilarios disappeared without a trace. His wife, Clivia Tharn, ascended to the Ruby Throne as Empress Regent under the guidance of the Necromancer Mannimarco. Ushering a time of increased instability within the Empire of Cyrodiil which finally grew into “The Three Banners War”.
