So, the main feature this whole year are two whole overworld companions.

And yet quests are literally mind numbingly easy? Why do we need a travel companion?
It's literally going to get to a point to where I don't even need to attack the mobs myself anymore. New here to the forums, needless to say I hope this isn't the only system being touched upon or added this year.

I know they said they were adding less but damn.

This means now nobody should complain when a ton of people ask for harder overland and more meaningful quests/content imo. Now that we have the option to take an npc with us.

I've lurked on here for a bit and have seen many people complain about how easy overland is. That seems to be a common issue. I can't imagine those people are too happy.

I also can't imagine that the camp who wanted some meaningful chapter additions this year are too pleased either.

Maybe this would have had more impact if the overland was actually challenging and we felt the need to have someone "at our aid" as the text says it.

Look, I really missed having someone around to eat all my sweet rolls and stand in all the doorways.

From an RP perspective its nice.
DPS might be good, tanking and healing everything seems good, especially for 4 man content.
Trials and PVPsound like a nightmare but who knows how that will work.

My expectations took an arrow in the knee when ZOS said they were scaling down the Chapter and not adding many new game systems.

As long as they price the Chapter in accordance with the measly offering of player companions, I'll consider it. If they decide they can charge even as much as Summerset, which was cheaper than Greymoor but still had the Psijic Order skill line and jewelry crafting, I will not be pleased.

But this is *the* main chapter feature. If it were a side feature I'd agree with you.

You're asking me to basically not complain and ignore the fact the main feature this year is a companion system the game does not need with its current level of difficulty in the overworld.

We're assuming the companions will only attack. Maybe they'll heal you, or buff. Maybe they'll root, or tank. Maybe they'll just stand back and make jokes while you attack things.

I would argue that a pre-patch datamine of companions does not constitute as the main feature of next chapter until we get more information. At best we we know some pre-order/collectors edition bonuses until the broadcast in a few hours.

If you have sweet rolls I’ll be your companion and you won’t have to buy the chapter.

Ooh, maybe they'll also carry our burdens, whine about it, and then make sure to trigger every trap!

Seriously, I once accidentally killed Lydia when I tried to FUS her off of where she'd done the wounded crouch right on a trapped stone. Every time she'd stand up, she'd trigger the stone, and the spiked door would slam her back onto it again. Oh, Lydia.

But she got revenge for it in another playthrough when she died while we were fighting Malkoran in Meridia's temple. He raised her, and she killed me with the Blade of Woe I'd given her.

No, main feature is the zone. Next, companions are not something that game doesn't need, it's something you personally aren't interested in.
People, learn the difference between "I don't like it" and "this is bad" already.

Uhhhh...no. nobody on this forum has ever said the main feature is the zone. When saying main feature of a chapter that means the major new addition when it comes to gameplay.

This is pretty bad if it's the only thing. People are allowed to have opinions. (:

I'm pretty sure the majority of the community was asking for a new weapon or simple 5 ability 1 ultimate skill line cause we haven't had a new skill line since Elsweyr.

No, main feature is the zone.

You know what's meant by that. A zone is a DLC. A zone + features is a cash-only Chapter.

The main features of Morrowind were Battlegrounds and the Warden class.
The main features of Summerset were Psijic Order skills and jewelry crafting.
The main feature of Elsweyr was the Necromancer class.
The main feature of Greymoor was Antiquities.

The main feature of Blackwood, as far as we know, looks like these player companions. As anticipated from ZOS' letter, that's pretty lackluster compared to previous chapters.

I'm willing to withhold judgment until I see the price tag, but I'm expecting to see a price that is commensurate with the lesser extent of this year's features.

I'd argue that the special skill/game/aspect is just as important as the story, so it'd be safe to say they are both "main selling points".

I mean lets be honest most players take a week tops to go through, with a lot of people finishing the main quest in a day.

Chapter or DLC, for me the main feature is the zone and story. Chapter just has some additional features.
But, oh, well, you are talking to someone for whom whole Dark Heart's season main feature was Fennorian. So I'm not going to argue here anymore.

    Edit: stupid drafts -_-

They never had a right to complain because the thing about a Veteran Overland is they can just keep it toggled on Normal if they don't want a challenge. 🤷‍♀️
