Free ESO Plus Trial

My question is, for those of us whom pay for plus already and they do a free plus trial, why doesn't our plus roll over the additional time?
Shouldn't we be getting a additional time added on, since it would have been regardless anyways, when they do this?

dont forget when ZOS started with free ESO+ trials they was giving to players with already ongoing ESO+ something to not make them feel ignored, used....for being loyal subscriber with ongoing free ESO+

it just shows how ZOS doesn't care of loyal subscribers, players and they all care is ust easiest as possible way to make money and give least as they could looking at ESO history and still ongoing

Didn't they switch from giving Crown Crates, to the little mini-statues?

mini-statues? they just added it by something else which I remember was worth more than these statues which was in basics for ESO+ customers but this thread isn't about, it is about rewarding already paying players for ESO+ while there is event with free ESO+ and what You wrote is about just having ESO+

No. I'm guessing it isn't as easy as just pushing a button to extend all the subscriptions by one week. Maybe the event will bring more players into the game making it more enjoyable for me to play. That is reward enough.

Eso+ subs get additional benefits that free trial people don’t. With that reasoning every time my car dealer gives a free test drive they should take a day off my car payment.

Because you get a small statue for "free" every month. That's something everyone definitely wants and everyone has enough furnishing slots in their house for in the long run and it's not just people waiting for their one or two favorites to finally get their small statue who then never look back and never care for another statue in years. Nobody is missing free crown crates and the free gems they provided to get what you actually wanted at all!

This post can contain trace amounts of sarcasm.

Would it be nice? Sure. But it would be highly unusual. I honestly can’t think of a single other subscription business that prorates or extends existing subscription contracts just because they start a promotion to entice new signups.

It feels bad for others to get for free what we had to pay for, but that’s how contracts work.

Free ESO+ events are intended to sell ESO+ not to insult those who already have it. Yes, people get to enjoy the convenience for free for a short time. But the major inconvenience of not having ESO+ exists only because ZOS decided to monetize inventory.

Originally ESO+ trials coincided with free crown crates for subscribed members. When the daily rewards came about that became moot so ESO+ subscribers were rewarded with more crowns and discounts on crown store items.

ESO+ trials serve two purposes. One is that it serves as a taste for players wanting to dip a toe in and try it all. Second, it fulfills a requirement that essentially any player can acquire anything in the game without paying extra. I mean a TON of players take the chance to get their thieves guild/dark brotherhood/psijic skill line as well as sets from MA or zones they don't usually enter. And with the new set collection system it's not a pointless endeavor.

They gave free crown crates, 1 each day.
This was very nice, the downside for ZoS was that people collected quite a lot of gems and did not buy crown crates.
I'm mostly after the cheaper jewelry from the crates anyway so lasted over a year.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Additional benefits? The crowns? The "free statue" (that nobody wants)?

Fact is, if people could, they would stop their ESO+ before the free week, and then continue it after.

Also your example is not accurate. It is more like if you are already renting the better model of a car, and then suddenly the renting company gives everyone that are renting the inferior model, a free week with a better model for the same rent price(of the inferior one). Usually in such scenarios you will be able to contact the renting company and force them to give you a discount on your next renting period (because they want to keep you as a customer). Sadly for you, this is a game, and not the real world, so it doesn't work that way, but at least give more fitting examples.

Funy how there's always that kind of people who whine because they think they come up short as soon someone gets somthing for free.

ZOS have never said anything of course but I've always suspected they stopped giving out free crates to subscribers during ESO+ trials because it didn't lead to increased crate sales.

They're not doing a free trial of ESO+ out of the goodness of their hearts because they feel sympathetic towards players who can't or won't subscribe and want to make sure they don't miss out completely on the benefits. They're doing it because they want players who may have never looked at what you get, or think it wouldn't matter to them to try it, get used to having it and decide it's worth paying for. Or at least to buy some DLC so they can finish the quests and things.

I'm sure the free crown crates were a similar system. Give people who are already subscribing some free crates and hopefully that will get them looking at what they could have gotten from them, instead of the trash they did get, and persuade them to buy some to try for more of the items, or at least to get enough gems to convert. Same reason they used to include crates in the login rewards.

Of course ZOS never release sales data, but I suspect ESO+ trials do lead to a slight increase in subscriber numbers, at least for a while (otherwise they wouldn't keep doing it) but free crates didn't lead to increased crate sales and they may actually have gone down because players could save up the gems gradually over time and then buy the things they really wanted from future crates.

Besides the free statues, ESO Plus subscribers also get reduced Crown prices on some items. Free trials don't qualify for that.

That isn't the same thing as what the OP means, but no one else that I know of gives refunds or extensions to compensate paying subscribers for free trials.

For instance, if you subscribe to HBO and HBO has a free trial weekend to try to hook new people into becoming subscribers, existing subscribers don't get an equal amount of time added for free to their paid subscriptions.

Hard to feel bad for people with ESO plus, endless craft bag constantly among numerous other features... yeah. You'll survive without that extra week of time.

I know that was sarcasm, but I wasn't whining. I legit wanted to know the reason why this wasn't a thing. It would literally not hurt them, at all, if they just gave us the extra week, since we are paying anyways.

Honestly they used to give you guys a few gamblecrates, I guess they decided a few boxes of junk was too generous? IDK
