Both guild and player names (@name included) speak volumes about the person. And yes, I would not join a guild with a messed up name (IMHO) because I probably would not fit in. We also don't invite players with messed up names into our guild, as we don't feel they would fit in with what we represent either.
It’s bad enough we have a cancel culture in real life, pretty sad to see it carry over into video games just because someone doesn’t like your name.

What does "I'd rather not join a group with name X" have to do with this silly "cancel culture" conspiracy theory?
The group & name still exists, it just isn't attractive to some potential members.
If people don’t like a guild name then fine don’t join, but not allowing people into a guild because of a silly name or reporting them for it is cancel culture.
The only thing I don't really like if a guild name has references to real life like some television show or to other games.
Generally, no, the guild name isn't especially relevant. But it's not hard to imagine a guild name that would be a deal breaker either.

It's interesting that you pick "pink bow & rainbow sparkles" as the metaphor for "bad", whereas my first thought is "wrapped in garbage and dripping stale beer". Your version sounds like the 'good' one?

In the end, it probably matters what you're looking for in the guild - if you're just looking for a trade guild, and won't be interacting with anyone, then yeah. It probably doesn't make much difference. If you're looking for a group to socialize with, a guild name that suggests they have personalities/views that wouldn't match yours would matter. /shrug
The fact that this game lets you have five guilds and pick which to display (if at all) on your character also makes a difference. As opposed to a game where you just have one guild, and it's prominently hanging on your nameplate.

I personally find "a pink bow with rainbow sparkles" way more off putting than "wrapped in garbage and dripping stale beer". The reason being that the pink bow and sparkles makes me think the GM and members are all the type who post pictures of themselves with cat ears and noses on social media, and like playing furries, and are basically turning the guild, and game, into a hello kitty cartoon. Whereas garbage and stale beer makes me think of party guys.
