"The Elder Scrolls Ritual of Mara 10K Gold Ring is for all who believe in the Divine of Love. It carries a warm and soft yellow tone often used in historical old-world jewelry. This lighter color most accurately matches the original Elder Scrolls Online concept art found in-game."

I'm just wondering who would buy this for $1,000.00. There is merchandise from older games that do fetch eye-watering prices in todays market. Maybe this could be a good investment for the future given the popularity of the Elder Scrolls.

-if you want gold jewelry as an investment, fly to Dubai and buy some 24 carat gold jewelry in the "city of gold" - lots and lots of jewelry shops await you there and the price is just a bit above tola bar price. Smaller tola bars are quite good to have as well, in a real crisis this might be one of the only "currencies", which can still buy you something.

It's expensive for game merchandise, but I think you have to bear in mind this is an actual 10 karat gold ring, even if it was just a plain band it would cost at least a couple of hundred dollars and any kind of pattern is going to make it more expensive.

Add on the fact that they're playing up the romance aspect of it being ring of Mara and selling it in the run up to Valentine's Day, which means you can expect an arbitrary mark-up just for that. (If you don't believe me try searching for 'gold ring' vs. 'gold wedding ring', on average the second will get you higher prices for identical items.)

So I think it's expensive for game merchandise but for a gold ring the price doesn't surprise me. I wouldn't buy it myself, but I'm not a fan of gold jewellery (even my wedding ring is palladium and silver) or Mara. If they had a silver necklace with a symbol of Kynareth I might buy it, and then paying the kind of price I'd expect for a similarly design silver necklace which isn't game merchandise might actually be a good sign because it could imply it's well made, although I'd want to make sure that was the case first and it wasn't just a merchandise markup.

Some people waste thousands on ingame currencies. You think a golden ring at 1k from their favorite game will be a problem?

It is a beautiful ring, Id wear it (preferably in silver) but it is clearly not worth $1000. So, no.

Well the good news is there's a silver version for $85: https://gear.bethesda.net/products/ritual-of-mara-sterling-silver-ring

(And sadly they don't have anything for Kynareth so they're missing a sale from me.)

While I'm not really into jewellery it is not an uncommon knowledge that the amount of gold in 10 karat gold is so low that it is usually not even sold. A quick search on Google shows that even 18 karat wedding rings are not uncommon even though the material is a lot weaker. And that for less than half the price (for big rings like this one).

1k is just an outreagous price, shows only how a game company wants to milk out people their happy moments. On top of that comes a duty and vat fee.

I never bought game merchandise but seeing this made me fall backwards of my chair.

Still, I'm willing to bet 1000s of people will buy it. I've seen people spend insane money on anything related to their favorite games. If it wasn't going to sell, they wouldn't even put it up.

Next thing that's going to happen is that influencers will recieve these for free and be asked to promote them, which will craze idiots into buying the rings even more.

Add on top the predatory FOMO marketing & sales tactic and GG.

    Disgusting.

Oh, I did forget about the fact that because this is American the tax isn't included in the price. I'm used to the advertised price being exactly what you'll pay.

Yeh I didn't realise as well until I went to checkout with the item to see if anything changes in the price.

I made a small mistake in my previous post though. 10 karate wedding rings are sold contrary to what I said, but at least where I live they are not sold as 'solid yellow gold'.

Wouldn't be interested anyway - but that's definitively overpriced. I could let my jeweller make me a custom one, it would still be cheaper.

10K is actually the lowest gold purity, only 41.7%.

Totally overpriced. Either way, I would never wear sth like that.

The sheer fact that the ingame ring was a rip-off (how many noobs didn't know about set bonuses) would put me off. I suppose the ring gas marginal use now. With malacath and wild hunt in the mix, you'd already have a broken set to work with.

I would buy the way cheaper silver one if I was going to get a ring honestly, I'm not a fan of gold.

I also wouldn't spend $1K on a ring anyway so to answer the question, no I wouldn't buy it.

Not for me and very over priced, imo. However, with the amount of money some spend in crowns it wouldn't surprise me if they've sold more than a few of these.

Pretty sure the ones spending thousands on radiant apex mounts, don't have anyone to whom they could give the ring.
