"UPDATE ON TWITCH DROPS FOR THE ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE

Once you’re sure your accounts are linked, there’s a few things you need to be aware of to ensure you get your goodies:

When a stream is Drops-enabled, you’ll get a notification popup letting you know they are live, in addition to a tag on the streamer’s page
Per Twitch’s guidelines, you must watch a Drops-enabled stream for at least 15 cumulative minutes
You can track your progress on earning a Twitch Drop via https://www.twitch.tv/drops/inventory
You are guaranteed a Drop once you meet the 15 minute requirement
Once you earn a Drop, a chat notification will appear that you must select to claim the Drop
Alternatively, you can claim the Drop via https://www.twitch.tv/drops/inventory
Note that if watching on console, you will need to swap to PC or Mobile to visit this page and claim your rewards
Important: In some cases you may have a limited time to claim your Drops, so be sure to grab them as soon as you see the notification"|

Could someone please clarify how this works ? I get the 15 min part, but not the rest. A chat notification will appear that I MUST select. I only ever watch the stream on full screen, the chat is just annoying and distracting with the messages going too fast. I do not follow chat. It says I must select the notification in chat.So it means I have to set a timer for 15 min, close the full screen and start watching only the chat so I do not miss the notification ? That sounds awful.

Or I get a notification in chat I can safely miss and just go to that drops inventory when the stream ends and claim it there ? That would make sense, it is extra work but ok, a few clicks gets it down.If I have to follow the chat in order to get a drop, that is insane.

Here is the information page about the new drops system on Twitch. If I remember correctly, cause I partecipated in the stream test, you can also claim your drop from the new voice "Drop" in your profile menu. If not, just close the full screen ad the notification will appear, it's not IN the chat where others write messages, but at the end/top of the chat windows.

The only issue might be if you miss the immediate notification, since it's not clear what's the limited time window mentioned in the article:
"In some cases you may have a limited time to claim your Drops, so be sure to grab them as soon as you see the notification"

Just to seek clarification, since I didn't participate in the test-- you're talking about where the little gift box icon appears that pops up every 15 minutes so you can claim +50 channel points? That is, every 5 minutes (I think) you automatically get +10 channel points that require no interaction, but every 15 minutes an icon (which might vary from streamer to streamer) pops up and you must click on it to claim an extra +50 channel points?

Is the new Drops icon the same as the channel points icon, or is it a different, additional icon? Does it stay onscreen for a few minutes as the channel points reward icon does?

Mmm, If I remeber correctly the notification is above that gift box icon, I'll say at the end of the chat window and above the space were you have to write the messages you want to send to the chat; and is not an icon with an image, just a rectangular text notification, and as far as I cant tell it remained visible on the page until I clicked it.

I participated in a test and limited time meant until the end of the test. so in my case, I had about an hour and a half to claim the drop before it expired. so this makes me assume that the time limit is set to end of each day's streaming window.

I didn't get a notification, btw, during the test - though I do watch in a background. I just checked my account's drop down menu after it was definitely longer then 15 minutes, and saw that the drop was 100% complete, clicked on that, it took me to the drop inventory and I claimed it from there. got the crates in game few hours later, after receiving usual "you have claimed a code" email.

    Hi all,

I created a short mobile-friendly article with screenshots that may help. It's based on the various articles from ZOS and Twitch and my experience during the test streams last week.

So far it's not working for me.

Nothing shows up in the the "drops" icon. I do occasionally get the "click to get channel points" but I have no real idea what the point of that is.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Drops have to be enabled, and AFAIK drops haven't been enabled since the short test of the new system a week or two ago.

Channel points are rewards points that streamers can enable if they wish, which let their viewers rack up a bunch of points based on how much time they spend watching a given streamer's channel, and with followers of that channel earning more points tgan non-followers, or earning points faster-- I forget the details.

Each streamer can decide what they want to offer for their viewers to spend channel points on. For instance, you might be able to spend a certain number of channel points to highlight your message in chat, or to make a request of the streamer such as singing a song, or whatever else the streamer wants to offer their viewers-- it's up to each streamer. IIRC you can click on the reward box icon to pop up a list of the available rewards and how many points each one costs.

"When a stream is Drops-enabled, you’ll get a notification popup letting you know they are live"

Where is this popup? On the stream page? Twitch main site? In game?

Very confusing for new people (me) that have never done this before.

It certainly feels like there haven't been any drops in a month or perhaps longer (outside of the short test).

I think they mean if you've got your Twitch settings and OS settings configured so that Twitch can send notifications to your computer or other device (tablet, phone, etc.).

Personally, I don't like to allow every app on my iPad or Windows computer to display notifications, because the app's idea of what I need to know right now hardly ever agrees with my idea of what I need to know right now. But I do get notifications in my email telling me when the streamers I follow are going online, and those email notifications do say when drops are active.

I linked my account and opened a Twitch account maybe a couple months ago just for drops. It worked fine for Gina and Jess' cooking show and for Rich's run of the new solo arena. I read all about this change but just don't know enough about tech or Twitch to fully understand it. I'll give things a go on the 26th and assume everything will work fine. Based on the results, I'll either continue with the Twitch drops or just toss it in the 'too hard' box and ignore future Twitch drops.
