New Player Question-- Best build for CP farming?

Paragonx78
I am very new, like week or two in game, just having fun taking my time doing the story quests and trying out several classes to see which one I enjoy the most. That being said I eventually will want to farm CP points and I was curious if there is an optimal CP farming build/class setup or if any class can do this by just running heavy AOE skills as most of the guides i'v seen just require pulling large groups and aoe them down. My favorite build so far is a Stam/Sorc just because I enjoy the playstyle, but I'v seen some builds that utilize increased movement speed and I was wondering as far as pure min/max for the most efficient xp farming if there was a best choice?

Any tips/suggestions would not only be welcome but greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

Use the free Crown XP boost scrolls (daily log-in rewards) and farm dolmens can be quick. Use gear with the training trait when you're lower level as well as riding around identifying new things (points-of-interest, wayshrines, etc) by utilizing the zone map. The main quest string gives big XP for each completed task. As well as killing as much stuff as quickly as you can.

Tamriel is a huge world these days with so much content still to do by the time you've reached 50. The best tip I can give is to enjoy it all, play the game for the journey rather than the destination - read the constant performance, balancing and other complaints on here by those only or primarily interested in endgame PvP or Trials - so take your time, let the levels and the CPs accrue naturally as you progress steadily through the content. There is absolutely no good reason to farm levels or CPs in ESO.

    @Mythreindeer gave good advice.

Curious, why do you want to grind CPs? Are you used to end game content in other MMOS and want to get into that content here in ESO, or are just wanting to max out your character for the sake of maxing it out?

I think maybe I was not clear, I just wanted to know if there was one build that was better at grinding out CP then any other build. There are plenty of guides out that explain how to grind CP fast if anyone is interested but my only question was about classes.

I was curious if any class could just throw on some AOE skills and be just as efficient and fast at clearing large packs of mobs then any other class?

    Thanks

I don't want to grind CP, I just want to take my time and enjoy the story content and strictly play a class that I enjoy. I do however love to make alts and try new things because I really get bored very fast playing the same class, specially in game like this that has great story but very simple combat mechanics which take very little thought.

I was just curious is all about the different classes, and if one is better at farming, has more innate speed, better aoe, or if it really doesn't matter. I have more fun trying new builds then I do playing through the game I would say and so this is why I was just asking about classes, not necessarily about CP farming.

The fastest way to farm xp is to do master writs, enchanting and alchemy being the ones that are most popular to set up. It's also incredibly expensive to do early on.

As far as classes, magsorc, magden and magplar are fun for mass pulls, but I can do that on my stamblade as well even it's not as easy as on the other 3. So there's definitely a difference between classes. I do think it's far more important to play a class you enjoy since grinding can be really boring. Magplar, while effective pur me to sleep when I play them in solo PvE for example. Hence why I got most of my CP on my stamblades.

Stamblade is what I use for big mobs and CC. Sellitrix with Pillar of Nirn, Skills Like Volley, Caltrops and Bombard will stun, immobilize and deal alot of damage over time. What you do on your frontbar is up to you.

Run lots of random normals on alts with an good xp buff works.
But would not care so much for grinding xp it comes over time anyway.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Stam sorc in all training gear. Bow/Dual wield

Hurricane + crit surge + arrow barrage (bow skill) + caltrops (assault skill line) + steel tornado or whirling blades (DW) and youre set.

I used the above to grind cp around spellscar and it worked great. Hurricane + crit surge keeps you alive with big trash pulls and allows you to get in the middle of it all and mow down packs of ads with ease and the rest of the skills above are AOE'S. In terms of other skills on the bar, you can fill them with whatever you like.

Gear wise you could get away with anything stam wise. I used a combination of hundings/night mothers gaze since its useless farming for sets if youre below CP150.

Thanks guys, appreciate it. I was just curious about the different classes. I had heard allot of people saying Magicka Sorc/Templar/Warden etc.. I was just curious and it sounds like even the stamina based classes can do well too.

Is there any classes that get movement speed buffs or is that a gear thing? I had saw a build that was nightblade with max movement speed while sneaking used to farm gold, I was curious if that was a thing you could do in farming cp.

Orc has the swift warrior passive which reduces stamina cost for sprint. Bosmer has a passive called hunters eye which grants movement speed after dodge rolling for a max of 6 seconds.

If you go stam with a bow you can also get the hunters eye passive which is similar to the bosmer passive where its a speed bonus after a dodge-roll.

In terms of builds themselves you may need to google them. I think i can remember seeing alcast create some build which was all about speed?

There are also sets that do increase sprint, but in all honesty unless its a crafted set you may be wasting time that could have been better spent farming cp (if thats a priority) compared to farming gear. Up for interpretation of course though.

So I started a new account during the last New life event, and now after about 2 weeks of playing randomly on that acc, I'm already at 300 CP.
    How?
Well I created 5 characters of each class and all I do is RND with each one every day..almost. and that is good enough to get you decent amount of CP. I think if I keep it up, it shouldn't take more than 6 weeks to hit CP cap.
For the gear, I used a lvl 4 training set till I hit 160. Then I got my self -
5 pc crafted- TWICE BORN STAR
    2 piece- Trainee
    3 piece - Willpower
All my toons are spec into Mag so I just bank the gear and take it out on another toon. Amd since I'm doing only RND, so it gives me easy 20-30K DPS.
Also dont have ESO+ so I only end up in base game dungeons which makes life way easier.

Also all toons get simultaneously their Horse trained as well as crafting research.

    Hope this helps.

IMO you are going to want something that has strong AOE and can kill overland mobs pretty fast while being self sufficient with healing.

I use a Breton Templar with Grothdarr, War Maiden, and Overwhelming Surge

    All points into Magicka.

    Mundus The Thief

Lightning Staff precise on front bar with magic damage and magicka return
Inferno Staff Infused with weapon enchant on back bar

    Front bar abilities I use:
    Solar Barrage
    Honor the Dead
    Puncturing Sweep
    Blazing Spear
    Inner Light
    ULT Shooting Star

    Back bar abilities I use:
    FLEX Extended Ritual
    Degeneration
    Channeled Focus
    Elemental Blockade
    Inner Light
    ULT Crescent Sweep

I have all my undaunted unlocked so I do run 5 light, 1 heavy and 1 medium which helps to boost health. I am at 19.3k health. I run one health enchant. You might need to run 2.

This is just what I prefer and its worked out well for me. Hope this helps some.

I have trained all my alts to lvl 50 and beyond I do not care. No need to spint in a Marathon.

I found that levelling Stamina Characters can be slower than Magicka, basically because Class Abilities lean more towards the mag side and then maybe one gets a stam morph. Thus one has to utilize one or two Weapon Skill lines. And that slows your overall progression, because you will be constantly very short on skill points. Maybe that is less of a problem when you level CP.
Plus there are not that many stamina self heals. Warden has one. And then there are only Vigor (PvP) and the Circle from Fighter's Guild. I could be wrong, but the picture is clear, I think.

Magicka Characters can simply use a heavy attack build with lightning staffs and class support skills for the three major buffs that you want (Sorcery, Resolve and Prophecy) and self heal. Works great and gives a lot of attack power and no need to concern yourself with sustain or survival.

That is what makes Warden, Sorcerer and Dragonknight the best classes for levelling.

Best is to make lots of Crafters to level 50
By doing writs daily with them you will get lots of gold and Enlighten XP

Just want to point out that farming undead is the fastest way to grind XP. There is a passive in the fighters guild skill tree that gives you ultimate whether you kill undead so you can pull a huge group of undead, ult them down, then have your ult available for the next pull.

There is a dungeon in Craglorn called Skyreach that is fantastic for XP. Really you run around the perimeter of the first floor pulling huge amounts of undead then dumping ult and AoE on them. Then you leave the dungeon, reset it, and repeat.

I find that Magika Sorc is the fastest for huge AoE pulls. They have awesome AoE and and very easy to survive on between crit surge and hardened ward. Use the destruction staff ultimate

You also want to make sure you're doing a random normal dungeon once per day on as many alts as you can. The first time you do it per day you get a massive chunk of XP and 10 transmute crystals per character. You can do them more once per day but the XP bonus is cut to a third and you only get 1 additional transmute crystal. You also get a skill point for each of the dungeon quests.

Just to reiterate what has been said in that Magicka Templar and Magicka Warden are the best when farming mobs for cp since they have built in heals. I used Magblade for mine and it works but having proxy det is kind of a must for it but shade is nice to use. Magdk can also be good for grinding. Stam can straight up melt ads, but if you don't have vigor then it will be hard on most classes.

A build for grinding would have all the traits for training. I personally have an almost golded out max level build in case i need it to grind out skills where I use gear that has increase stats for both magicka and stam. I use shacklebreaker and either nma, clever, or even sloads where I have every type of weapon and enough different armor pieces to grind out those skills as well. If I want to switch a magicka chara to stam then I put on the training gear and breeze through mobs leveling up skills and weapon skill lines as well. I usually have either a saved mag or stam jewelry saved in my eso house to put on as well.

This what u were looking for? Don't quite have this set up. But the magsorc I barely play is pretty much this ezmode. Not as fast but than again I'm not trying as hard for fastest time.
