I just started doing antiquity excavations since the markath patch and quite a few times I get and UI error https://ibb.co/KD7wGyR both while doing the excavation and after im done and try to look at the "J" antiquity journal, every time it happens in the journal I need to hard reset the game because I can't open any menus anymore.

I have never used an addon and also never have experienced similar issues since I started playing in 2017.
