Limitations I don't like

Hello all,

First of all, I hope everyone is in good health, physical and mental, in the difficult times we go through.

There are some limitations in the game that I don't like and don't quite get.
To be more specific, I am referring to the bank deposit limitations and Guild store limitations.

The personal bank starts with a 60 items limitation, and you need 1,000 gold coins to raise that to 70.
And you need 3,300 for the next level.

The Guild bank has the 10 member requirement to be able to start depositing items.

The Guild store requires 50 members to be active.

I really do not like these limitations nor understand their purpose but by all means, feel free to enlighten me

To be clear, I am a new player, not entirely familiar with the game's mechanics.

Thank you in advance.

It's simply a gold sink, a way of pulling gold out of the in-game economy to combat inflation.

This is to make sure guilds recruit and grow before they get the perks, otherwise you'd get tiny groups of 2 or 3 people or even individuals starting a guild just for the store and extra bank space.

Guild traders require a gold bid in order to win the spot for a week - unless the players are very rich, this is considerably easier to do with 50 or so people. The weekly trader bid is a huge gold sink for ESO, which is one reason why they do it.

Additionally, each player can only list 30 items for sale at a time. So even if a smaller, very rich guild was allowed to buy a trader, the number of wares in the trader would be very small.

This encourages players to join trading guilds and encourages trading guilds to recruit. This means that more players get to participate in the guild trader economy, that more gold is taken out of the economy in the weekly trader bid gold sink, and that buyers have plenty of wares to choose from.

Now I learnt something from it - I never really thought about that this system is actually used as a gold sink - funny, this seems to be so obvious (after I got it now), but it never came to my mind before.

With a fully leveled bank + ESO Plus you have 480 slots for your personal bank, similar to a guild bank.

This and due to the crafting bag you have quite a large amount of spaces freed up in each characters inventory and the bank as well. Still, there is a lack of a furniture bag of some kind - I had to drop a lot of furniture in empty shacks of mine - I doubt that this is less memory consuming than a furniture bag would be.

Since you are a new player, you might not be aware that you can also increase your inventory space by 1 slot per day per character by spending 250g at the stablemaster to increase your horse's "carry capacity" there. You can increase your inventory size that way by up to 60 slots in total, which at 15 000 gold is considerably cheaper than the later bag and bank space upgrades.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

Look at it another way. When you are new you have limitations. As you progress you gain counters to these limitations so you progress as a character. As you progress you get better, what's not to like?

I think this game is designed to be frustrating in terms of bank and storage capacity on purpose so as to encourage people to subscribe (so they can access the crafting bag). It's annoying, sure. But when compared to other games out there with optional subscriptions it's actually pretty reasonable.

SWTOR for example doesn't even let you hold more than a million credits (which is like loose change on that game) and you can't even access your guild bank at all.

When it comes to these guild stores though, don't ask me. I've never understood why they continue to cling to that system and likely never will. It's a huge turn off for new players and I know many who have quit because of it. All i can say is just stick with it because aside from its weird economy, it really is probably the best overall MMORPG on the market.
