[BUG] Items which disable crafting stations

Mortar and Pestle (both the small and turquoise master writ designs) and Redguard Vial, Stained Glass are some of the furnishings that I’ve found that make a crafting station unusable. It doesn’t matter where they are placed on the station and they can even disable the station when placed floating above or right beside it.

I am baffled as to what could cause the problem as it can’t be collision boxes. It took me a while to find it was the objects themselves and nothing to do with their placement even. Quite infuriating indeed, especially as I really liked how the little mortar and pestle looked on the alchemy station. :disappointed:

I know what you're saying. I really wanted to place the alchemy apparati on my clockwork alchemy table but it doesn't work. I thought one of the new dwarven candles would look smart on it too, but nada. And you're right, just having them too close, even if on a different table, breaks the stations.

I notice that some crafting stations are fussier than others, too. I can have all kinds of stuff around a clothing bench but the woodworking one is really fussy about its personal space. 🤷‍♀️

What is odd is that some items DO work. For example I have some pans on my Elsweyr grill and the grill is still usable. But place an object a foots distance away from any other crafting station and its a no go, they become unusable.

So, this leads me to believe it's not the props/furnishing items perse, but the crafting stations that have the issue.
But I dunna, its hard to say.

Another annoying thing is some of the furns/plants that have collision on them. You cant place them in a path or even close to the edge of a path or your toon will get stuck on them. Why?!?! Why?!?!

There are items that work on the other stations too, including the poison satchel, elixir and vial (at least on the alchemy station). I only tried the small mortar and pestle and the Redguard vial on the standard alchemy, blacksmith, clothing and woodworking stations. These items disable the station when placed anywhere in proximity. It did not occur to me to try them on any of the newer stations such as the Elswey grill. The pans that you place on your grill, do they disable other crafting stations?

Regarding plants and collision boxes, I definitely agree that ferns should not have them! I would want trees and hedges to keep collision boxes of course, but there is no reason for any kind of ground cover to have them.

I gave this a try for science — the Redguard Delicate Vial as well as the Mortar and Pestle both disable the Elsweyr Grill when placed on or above it. So the problem seems to be with the furnishings, at least how they interact with or otherwise effect any crafting station.

I haven’t noticed any pattern in what objects disable crafting stations and which don’t. Certainly it isn’t a size issue.

Interesting. I would have to say at this point that both of us are right and both of us are wrong. The issue with unusable crafting stations could be both certain stations and certain furnishing items. Like placing a station too close to a wall or border can sometimes make them unusable, or sunk in the floor too much.

Who knows, but some consistency would be welcomed.

Agreed. I put a small fish on my Elsweyr grill and it made it unusable. It's annoying that we have to leave things (stations) in their generic form to use them.

I would recommend trying another fish as it may well work. If there is any pattern to which furnishings disable crafting stations, I’ve yet to discover it. I have Redguard kebabs on my Elsweyr grill and @Raideen has used pans on his.

Both right, if I understand your posts correctly. From what I have read and observed, crafting station may differ in how easily they are disrupted by their position, proximity of other objects, etc. (which I think is what you are also saying) but there are also some objects which disable any crafting station they are put on or near enough to.

Consistency I only want if everything works, please! I’m sure that’s what you meant, but my mind immediately went the other way! But all stations should ideally be far less sensitive to clipping and not be disabled by any non-interactive object so long as they’re not within a collision box.
