Anyone else think this achievement is somewhat backwards? I've been pretty careful about not racking up bounties for my various nefarious activities, and when I do acquire a bounty, I usually just avoid towns until it's worn off. I have dozens of pardons in my bank because I've never really needed them.

I really don't care about the achievement itself, but I wouldn't mind being able to buy some furniture items from the Thieves Guild - but apparently, I need to be a terrible thief in order to do so!

Aye, it is kinda odd since it requires you to be terrible at being a criminal. Think of it like a.... guard donation fund

I think maybe that's why it's called "recompense"--making amends for harm done or something lost. So being a good criminal, you won't make amends in terms of fines and payment for your deeds, but being awful, you'll constantly be making amends (financially), but never really learning from it

if it was based on money earnt from being a good thief, the achievement would be called "Felonious Reward/Remuneration" or something similar.

I think I was about 3k gold along when I decided to just go ahead and get the darn achievement so I could cross another dye off the list. I found me a nice spot with lots of people to watch me murdering sheep and looting their corpses, with some obvious pickpocketing to go along with it, and no pesky guards to cut my fun short. Then the fence got my bounty money so I wouldn't lose any of my ill-gotten merchandise.

You can be a good criminal, it just means you need to work a little harder to get this particular notch in your belt.

I got it during the 1 M gold stolen grind, and yes I tended not to care much picking up an bounty getting there as I knew I had to spend 100 K anyway.

I have six characters with the Black Market Mogul achievement many times over, but zero characters with the Felonious Recompense achievement.

You either have to be a really bad thief, or just like buying achievements for 100,000 gold each. I don't fall into either category, I suppose.

This achievement is like a 30 min murder spree in Hadran's Caravan. Why is it even an issue for some people? I'm more troubled by the need of killing guars for another achievement.

This is the only achievement I am actively NOT trying to complete... even though I would like the dye.

After 3.5 years of playing A LOT - am at 162/100000 & 125/100000 respectively... and I am legitimately not sure how it even got that high.
