Do i need to do the entire mages guild questline to get Thrassian Stranglers, or is there some workaround to the Eveya dig site?

    Oh dear :( yes. Very unkind of zos. Ateast the wolf pet piece in the fighters guild questline was accessable fairly early on. The Wolf part was also only cosmetic.

    No. You just need to unlock eyevea. It's the penultimate quest, but not the whole story.

    Once the quest arc is complete the area is traversable as a non-solo area by that player. So travel to player should be possible. It's only a solo-instance during the mad god's bargain (and then only the guild hall).

    Mythic antiquity which increases damage with cost of decreasing max health and damage shields. Apparently was powerful enough it got nerfed to "does anyone still use it?" rather quickly.

    Nope, you can't travel to player to get to Eyevea. Even with Beam Me Up it gives you the message you're not allowed to do that.

    No, you can't. You will get notification that it isn't possible...

    You need the quest line done in order to unlock Eyevea. Only 6 quests, can be done quickly imo if your char is already at level 6 of the mage guild line. If not, you need to pick up lore books because the levels of mages guild line are requisites to unlock the line's quests :
    > 1st quest needs level 1;
    > 2nd quest needs level 2;
    > 3rd quest needs level 3;
    > 4th quest needs level 4;

    The questline is one of the easier ones in the game. Of course I didn't like it - since it hinges on Sheo.... Still, unlocking the island is infinitely easier than the FG questline - at least it was for me.

    Mages Guild is a series of rather quick solo dungeons that you don't really have to travel to, the portals give access.
    Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    Without spoilers, completing the mage's guild quest gives you an opportunity to get 2 skill points as the final reward. Some compensation for your character's time.

    This will not work. I tried it. The only way to get to Eyevea is to do the quest.

    I had no idea there was skill line requirements to get the quest. This is probably why I was stuck on some characters waiting for shalidor to show up and wondering why Valaste wouldn't talk to me! I though it was a bug!

    Would be nice if the mages guild quest line actually let you fully level the skill.

    Like many guild skill lines you need to do extra grinding. But yes its a bit annoying the quests don't level skill line like DB and TG quests do.
    Still you only need to do this on one character.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    Actually collecting the lorebooks is one of the main requirements to progress the Mages Guild:

    Curinure's Invitation
    ""Welcome. Are you here on Mages Guild business?"
    The Mages Guild?
    "Yes, of course! We're lorekeepers across the face of Tamriel. Guild members seek out books, tomes, and ancient scrolls in their travels. Why don't you speak with me for a moment? Perhaps you'd like to join!""

    I already bought the skilline so thats not a problem. I just didnt expect to have to do all these qs to get a single piece of a legendary item. Buts its cool, i will do the questline. I do have a heart of a roleplayer especially when im forced to :P

    I never have any issue with fully leveling the MG line - every character reads every lorebook they come across - matter of habit after so many years of RPGs. Since the game hands you the levels for all the books you've already read, it's a piece of cake for me.

    In fact, my mains were MG level 7 or 8 by the time they joined the MG and started the quests.

    leveling mage guild and doing the mage guild quests to open eyevea are two different things

    Not necessarily, you need the levels to advance in the quest. I think she is just saying that she was able to progress through the quests quickly and without interruption because she already read all the books.

    Traveling to a guildie/party member requires a wayshrine in their zone.

    There's no wayshrine in Eyevea.

    There is one, down by the harbour, but it is exit only so you can choose a non Mage Guild destination.
