If you’re planning to buy tickets anyway, it’s an opportunity to pair up with someone with the same intention — then it really is a free bonus for both of you! :)

If my memory serves me well, you get a crate for every 5 tickets gifted, so 1250 crowns for 1 crate?

Yes, if you were already planning to give event tickets, then it is a free bonus. If you're giving tickets just to get the crates, then no, they aren't free.

Five event tickets is 1250 crowns, for 3 crates. A pack of 4 crates is 1500, so you're basically buying crates at a slightly higher price if you're only giving tickets to get the crates. You're better off just spending 1500 crowns on a 4-pack, than buying 5 individual tickets as gifts to get 3.

Article says 4 crates for 5 tickets

Edit: Actually, it’s four crates instead of three. It’s a nice bonus when I was on the fence about buying tickets for an additional Indrik mount. :)

Four crates from 5 tickets = 1250 cr
Four crates from pack = 1500 cr

You are saving 250 cr by doing this. The only disadvantage is you have to wait until January to get the crates.

FYI, I was informed by a guildmate that based on the promotion last year, you do not get additional crates for every multiple of five tickets you gift! I had rather assumed you would and so wanted to pass this information along in case others had thought the same!

Well, yes, it would be foolish to do it that way if your only intention is the crates! My point is that if player A planned to buy tickets and player B planned to buy tickets, now if they instead buy them for one another they get a bonus.

Yes, that's what I said, too. I was agreeing with you, but also pointing out that the value wasn't as good. Though, when I logged into the game just now, the announcement said 4 free crates. I looked at the article again, and it said four as well. Don't know where I got three from. So, it's actually a better value than just buying the 4-crate pack, but still only "free" if you were already planning to gift event tickets.

With no opportunity to buy 2019 berries to play catch up on missed mounts, & no future Indrik events planned, this reads like a wasted $$$ making opportunity for ZOS. It's a nice gesture--but it could have been significantly more lucrative for them if it wasn't for the arbitrary decision prevent the 2019 berries from being sold during the event.

Why do this only for event tickets ? If it was "gift a total value of X crowns between at least 2 friends and receive crown crate", I would probably have join in, I know someone dear that always need some race or appearance change token , and that would also be a motivation to gift little house trinkets to favorite guildies.
But event tokens only ??? Sounds as festive a gift as donating food coupons :(

@ZOS_SarahHecker i just got notice today that some of my gifted tickets were returned to me and not accepted by the people i sent them to. Am i still eligible for the crown crates reward or no since my gifts were returned to me?
