What is considered the fastest way to level?

What is considered the fastest way to level during the double xp event? Grinding with Training gear and xp scrolls? Share your thoughts... I got like 17 xp scrolls stored, so I was wondering got a lvl 17 DK which I would like to level and my magnecro cp208. Farm Dolmens or RND’s?

    This.

There is prep work involved. If you need to go around and buy the writs one at a time, it's way too slow. Gather them in advance so you have them all available when you want to do the leveling. You'd also need the mats on hand to instalevel a new toon to 50 in enchant and/or alchemy. The use of an autocraft addon like writworthy will massively speed up the process as well.

If you have these things ready to go, you can get to level 50 in under 10 minutes
  • Piwi2point0
Ok then I just level my main for now and spare writs for the next big event.

random normal dungeons along with their quest, this would get you about 2 or close to 3 levels per run....throw in a random BG for more xp also.

If I'm leveling toons the traditional way with xp, I have a few different approaches. You can just go to Skyreach or some other mob grind and get to 50 fast. Training gear + xp scroll and someone that can carry quickly. This will get you to cap fast, but you may find you are missing skill points or skill lines, depending on what you have planned for the toon.

You can do dungeons. Do one random then go through the others one by one. Skill point and xp burst for each. If you need to use the queue, it will probably be too slow. Run it solo or with others that want to go fast.

You can go a bit more casual and hit delves, dolmens and world bosses in each zone. You'll get more accomplished as you go and end up with more skill points at the end, but the trip from 1 - 50 will take some time.

Guess I will be trying multiple ways for now and see what I like best.

Spellscar is the fastest in my opinion, though it can be hard with low CP.

Random normals are also great. Join a solid trial guild, you'll find really high dps players who want to run with low level toons.

IF you have crowns and gold for it just do master writs lvling and buy skyshards and skillines. You will have a char from zero to fully ready in an hour from creation. Prep work, buy masterwrits, Craft glyphs and stack up on solvents and reagents to lvl enchanting and alchemy.

Not sure but fighting around Spellscar seems effective. I had a few skills I wanted to level up in a hurry on an alt and I had heard that was a good place to do it. I went there... just tossed out a few AoEs to get credit on mobs people were killing... and I was literally maxed out on my skills in a matter of seconds.

If you are low CP or worried about dying, I suggest going Vampire (you can cure it later if you want) slot Blood Mist and just dive into the large groups there people are training/killing. You'll get a ton of experience that way without having to worry about dying.

Fyi there is fast leveling and then there is efficient leveling. If you goal is to get to level 50 as fast as possible and just have 64 skill points and not much else then dolmen or master writs are good methods for that.
Otherwise I suggest making a plan as to what skill trees, skills and passives you want prior to going much further and then do leveling with that goal in mind. If your PVE focused and want skill points then random normals will help with that. Skyshard hunting will gain you some levels to. And in cyro the PVE towns will grant you exp as well as AP.

Remember that in ESO leveling is more than getting to 50 it's also about getting the skill lines and skill points you need. And with stickerbook all of the overland gear you farm will help complete your set. The alikir dolmen run is the least effective way to level when you factor it all in.

To be honest that's a big if for a lot of players. Those crowns add up real quick and to be frank, only the undaunted skill line, and the cyrodill skyshards are even remotely close to being worth the asking price and it's still too high. But to each their own right?

Doing at least 1 Daily Random Dungeon and 1 Daily Random Battleground each day (when the reward is purple) gives like 1-5 levels without xp boosts. You want the dungeons for the undaunted points and skill point for the dungeon quest, and the battlegrounds for the skill points you earn from pvp ranks, so imo it's highly efficient once a day for leveling, and fairly efficient for general character progression.

And it's more interesting than herding zombies

Forget writs. Skyreach carries and normal dungeons will level you right up if you don’t have writs available. Questing does a good job too. I I mix all 3 of those to level a new toon. Personally I only craft on one toon. Leveling crafting skills is boring so I never wanted to do it more than once.

Fastest: master writs if you have enough gold to buy them
Fast and low cost: Spellscar, xp scroll (+ event xp bonus) + training gear (lvl 10 and 30 body, lvl X0 and X6 weapon)
Long term efficient: doing psijic quest line which brings you to many zones where you can pick up skyshards, public dungeons, also lorebooks (mage guild) and dolmens (fighters guild), but for this you want fast horse and rapid (and ofc xp sroll, training gear)

CP 10-160: non-dlc vet dungeons once each for the quest and undaunted achievements, but you need proper gear and skills developed to be able to do it (or friends to carry you)

Alchemy writs, if not, skyreach carries. Both cost gold in one way or another, unless you have a good friend with a few hours to kill.

If solo, you can get to 50 in sub 5 hours at one of several zombie (or other) grinds. I like Zombie grinds because they are easy to solo and also level fighters guild (just make sure you grab the skill line before you start grinding).

You generally want: Double XP event, XP scrolls/potions, as much training gear as you can wear.

Best XP from a grind of this type is always in a group of 2 people, with no one else around. That said if you are in a group of two, and someone else shows up, you are better off adding them to your group than competing with them for pulls and XP.

Leveling alchemy takes about 5 minutes if you have the mats to craft them, enchanting also less then 10 minutes if you have a high level crafter and enough bank space.

Full purple - training gear crafted (at variety of levels to match Prophets weapons) - I don't craft weapons as you can use the "Prophets" gear you get while leveling. Level 9, 15, 25, 41

    Scrolls/Potions 50% 2hrs / 100% 1hr until I hit 30+

Dolmens - Until Fighters guild is 10 (usually around level 30)
Then - Either Zombies in NE Alikr , or Forgotten Wastes loop (I can get level 36 to 50 here on 2 1hr each scrolls of 150% xp)

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

    @idk

I tend to agree, which is why I prefer a combo approach. That said, a level 50 character with no sky shards does have enough points for a very minimal build, but you are almost certainly leaving some passives on the table, and having more than one set of skill bars is pretty rough. You also have enough points to park a toon for crafting writs.

What I usually do is something like this for my last 7-8 toons.

Login, skip tutorial. Use my friends/guild list to port to as many way shrines as I can for about 10-15 minutes, which will get you to level 5 or 6. I then throw on training gear until I hit level 10, usually by doing dolmens (one time each) in the first few zones and grabbing some shards along the way. In the past, I would grab rapids at that point, but RIP.

I would then grind until about level 20, at which point I have enough skills to easily solo Public Dungeons and group Bosses, so I grab all of those, which is a very fast 20 or so skill points and maybe 5-10 levels . I then continue to grind, but I will also queue for group dungeons on normal as they become available. These give good XP and some decent skill points as well.

If you clear all public dungeons for the skyshard and group boss skill point and do most of the non DLC group dungeons, you dont need that many skyshards to round out a complete build. For an Alt, that is often acceptable if you arent worried about crafting and multiple specs.

In a straight grind to 50, I have done it in about 4.5 hours in a solo zombie grind. The above takes about 8 hours, but you are certainly much more complete at the end of it.

It's also really important that you keep an eye on your skill lines as you level. If possible, always keep one skill from each class line on your main bar, and one skill from your back bar weapon on your front bar as well. That ensures that by the time you hit 50 that all three class lines and two weapons lines are at or close to 50. Also a good idea to wear at least one piece of each armor type.

I do this as well. First, allot the CP with a focus on running and stamina (you can change the points later, but initially when the mount is slow, focus on alt running speed).

Use an experience scroll and then visit all my houses, especially the ones in towns or near a wayshrine.

You can quickly get to level 10 this way and I also get the crafting training done which is a nice quick way to get skills.

Doing the first couple of the main quest is also a good way to get experience and skill points.

As was pointed out above, power leveling in this game is stupid, as all you are doing is delaying the grind for skills, which doing at level 50+ with no skills is painful. You are considerably more powerful at lower levels with decent gear, food & potions than you are at level 50. Zoom... you are 50... OMG I can't kill crap or carry my own weight to do anything.

If on the other hand you are high CP on your mains and can afford to buy all the skyshards you previous completed on them to get those skill points for your newbie, go for it.

Not nearly as much of an issue if you have CP and we are talking about leveling alts. All my toons get shiny new outfits at level 50. First thing I typically do is run VMA with them. They have no issues killing stuff. If it is your first character, power-leveling is of course the last thing you want to do. But when you are on toon 9 or 10, powerleveling is the way to go to at least some degree.

The fastest is the writ and/or dolmen grind method, that works fastest, but too many problems doing it that way once you get to 50.

The best way to level is to put on all training gear, every piece, and run the public dungeons until you are level 50. That way you will have the needed skill points to put into two bars worth of skills and actually be ready to play when you reach level 50. Throw in a little dolmen grinding in Alik'r and some random norms as soon as you are high enough level to do them, and you'll be at level 50 before you know it. Oh, and don't forget your ambrosia or XP scrolls at the same time.

Dolmens in Auridon. Reason being there is XP completed for tagging, and XP for completing.

In Alik'r, you will mostly be getting completion XP due to the sheer amount of people and hits making your own tags pointless.

I don't even want to count the amount of characters I've levelled and since deleted that way, including some full mount trained - but who I wanted to reuse their name or had a vision that X class should be on Y faction, because reasons. (before Alliance change)
