What I Realized About the Game while not Really Being Able to do Trials and Dungeons...

The next thing I realized is...

You have realized some things, but you have failed to realize the main thing: this is not a MMO, this is Elder Scrolls Online. The huge percent of players is here for solo overland quests and quests only.

You can remove dungeons and trials, and I will not care at all (maybe I would even pay fot it). You remove overland quests, and this game is not worth playing any more.

Agreed on this. If you remove quests ESO is done and gone - that should be logic for every person playing this game. Even if you are berried in dungeon´s and trial runs all the time, which I am mostly atm.

The most importen addition to ESO atm would be, a tutorial system teching different roles and mech for new player´s and of cause older player´s as well.

Tutorial about sets and their meaning for different roles. A tutorial that also include some preparation for the harder content.

Per se we don´t need harder content. We need more people to get onboard, the content we have.

I love dungeons and trials, though I play far less trials than before because some of my core members suffer bad performance issues in trials and PVP. But with that said, I stick around precisely because I love the quests, the storyline, and the whole universe. There hasn't been a storyline I haven't enjoyed yet, and even the side quests are very entertaining IMO. The one storyline that I consider subpar - the Dark Brotherhood storyline - is only that because it ended on a cliffhanger and it felt incomplete. It would not be so bad if they went back and revisited the end of that storyline and completed it.

What I realized is that half of what is really interesting about the game is in "overland content." That sucks because
    1. A certain percentage of players never even play a very large percentage of that content
    2. And even those who do play it, would very rarely play it more than once.
    3. A player interested in being OP literally has almost zero reason to touch any of that content (the rewards are junk, and the difficulty level is hysterical)

If ZoS wanted to change their focus to make it more productive, I suggest they reverse their priorities

1: devote that vast majority of their creative and technical attention to the things people do OVER and OVER again. (Dungeons and Trials) - make them run smooth, get your best actors and stories, and most creative setting and ideas in THERE

2: Repurpose all the existing overland content by allowing zones to have VET INSTANCES where the difficulty and rewards are draaaaaaaastically higher.

Funny that. Do just that and I'm pretty sure I'll never touch that game again.

Content creation really isnt ZOS's problem. They do a pretty good job of releasing new dungeons and trails fairly regularly. I am not one of them, but I think you underestimate how many people play this game for questing and RP purposes.

Also, all content becomes repetitive, be it a trial or a story side quest. That is why an MMO needs to generate new content or it will eventually fail. If anything, I think ZOS needs to take their foot of the content creation gas pedal for a patch or two and focus on performance updates, but that is a different debate for a different day.

Do I think overland difficulty should be turned up a notch or two? Yep, but pretty sure I am in the minority on that.

Who says they aren't? Some of the dungeon stories are great. Some of the characters are awesome. I'm never going to get tired of running WGT or Mazzatun because those characters crack me up.

I felt vindicated when Liar of Maarselok came out, because I always hated the end of Selene's Web.

Crypt of Hearts is the ultimate mansplaining quest, and I love to hate it.

    It's all in there already.

    I would make two changes:

1: Make story quests repeatable with higher difficulties. Scaled for single players or duos, but to provide a meaningful challenge. Scale up rewards. Whether the same as usual but of higher quality, or some new story-related sets (or high-end materials). When I was a Destiny regular doing the hard mode story quests was one of my favourite activities, and it gives us a chance to enjoy those stories again and remind ourselves of what went on. It's been years since most of us did Orsinium, and now Eveli is coming back in the new update. How well do we all remember her contributions?

2: Single player instances of dungeons. By all means, limit rewards from this version (hell, it would be a nice way to farm for overland sets if they were what were on offer) so that the story can actually be appreciated. I have no idea what the stories of any dungeons are, because if I linger to find out I'm liable to find a kick vote has passed against me. This is particularly annoying for DLC dungeons that are part of the major expansion stories. Not that I can get into them anyway. The activity finder does not like them at all.

I'd love it if they could even just fix it so that normal dungeons could be soloed.

There are some like Direfrost or ICP that have a 'need two people to activate switches simultaneously' mechanic, or you've got a lot of the Base Game 2 dungeons that have one-shot pin mechanics. It would be nice if those mechanics were lessened in normal (by all means, keep them in vet) for story runs.

And for story runs, let us repeat the quests. I don't need any rewards from a do over, but if you already got the quest done you can't even get most of the dialogue anymore.

Now that I'm practiced enough to be able to solo dungeons, I fell it's annoying that I still can't get the true story experience for most of them.
