How would you rate Zenimax Online Studios performance in 2020.

So 2020 is almost over and lets all be honest it's been a god awful year for this game. The inability to fix reported bugs months in advance, failure to crack down on the crashes despite introducing a patch that claimed to address most of the problems, balance of the game probably the worst it has ever been. We have the developers for this game who would applaud that Greymoor and the 2020 dlcs were a huge success but I can almost say that every single update this year has been met with overwhelmingly negative reactions.

2020 has been a year of broken promises, failed experiments and no resolution from this company and I really can't fathom how this company still has it's defenders after it all. I personally can't really trust this group of developers to fix even the most minor of bugs let alone the ones that have plaguing this game over the last year or two. It's a real shame ESO has gone down this path because it really should be doing much better. Anyway I just want to know what other players in this community feel about Zenimax Online Studios this year.

The game works pretty close to flawlessly for me. If it hadn't been for Greymoor (because weres and vamps are SO NOT my thing, never have been) I'd have voted Brilliant. I'm aware that those who do pvp and endgame group content have a lot of issues, but since I quest, I don't have any problems. I have no crashes, no long load screens, just nothing going wrong.

So I'm a happy gamer here.

Considering that the only thing I am still doing in ESO is hm trials, since proc meta and pvp performance made me quit pvp and that we had to cancel all raids for multiple weeks after each patch due to crashes and performance my choice is pretty obvious.
    Politeness is respecting others.
Courage is doing what is fair.
Modesty is speaking of oneself without vanity.
Self control is keeping calm even when anger rises.
Sincerity is expressing oneself without concealing ones thoughts.
    Honor is keeping ones word.

Single player quester here. Pretty good.

The fact that they resist people who want to throw money at them in the cash shop by just being dumb makes them a little bit dumb though.

If they had managed to mess up overland as well, then it would be full on abysmal. As it is, it was a very, very narrow call. Esp with the continuing degradation of the game, which is no longer shocking, sadly.

It a beautiful game that you can occasionionally have amazing moments in... I don't like to rag on the developers I think if they held the purse strings this game would be working a lot better. It wouldn't have adopted stadia at the begining of the year and made the game unplayable for all exisiting platforms. I think more recent issues would have felt more forgivable if the performance hadn't been hit so hard to begin with.

It isn't too late to fix it, but I feel less and less confident they will. Not because I believe them incapable as often suggested, just totally handicapped from doing so by the shareholders.

I mainly play PvP and between the terrible meta and performance it is very hard to find those amazing moments I first mentioned.

You think they don't have kids out of school, family they're worried about and can't see, in addition to their own well being during this? Think this requires a bit more than "dev" and provisioning servers.

Considering Covid and that they did some tests and learned from them instead of just pushing them to live and having performance tests in PvP... They did a little better than in 2019 but they'll need to communicate more and listen to feedback.

If Microsoft forces ZOS to conform to their loot box policy next year, the first step of CP rework in Q1 looks promising and the story of the chapter is not just Mehrunes Dagon trying to invade Cyrodiil, then I'd be willing to give them a "Pretty Good".

They only get the "Brilliant" if they fix Bosmer stealth, give Argonians both poison and disease resist as the lore demands and performance actually goes back to how it was during Tamriel Unlimited and Imperial City.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

They don't run into each other during work anymore. It always has to be scheduled an entire meeting even for the smallest of things because they just cannot discuss these things on the fly.

Even positive and nostalgic feelings would influence a poll(it's what keeps most of us here). I always try to be fair in my feedback, but my feedback for the level of enjoyment I have felt this year is abysmal. Performance is normally bad and when it isn't you are left with a horrible meta.
A 2019 poll would have had me rate this game very highly and that was taking into account scale breaker at the tail end.

As stated above I don't blame the Devs for this, it is those who want to see an unreasonable return on their investment that are to blame.

    I liked the new systems.

Scrying, excavating, stickerbook are the ones I thinking of at the moment. They really did draw me back into all the game's zones.

    Great stuff.

Art design, antiquities, sticker book were welcome improvements to the game - however the performance issues in so many activities, the time it takes to fix things and the lack of timely communication on matters sullies the good aspects.

It has been a demanding year on many fronts but many companies have managed to pivot to the new circumstances and
and are making a greater effort in maintaining customer satisfaction. Looking forward to 2021 and really hope to see improvements in communication and quality.

I voted pretty good but im pretty unhappy. Im trying to look past what I want, being a pvper and think in bigger picture.

Skyrim looked gorgeous and I enjoyed the plot. The graphics were also amazing for an mmo.

The new dlcs were fun and looked amazing as well

Antiquities were also a cool concept, though its not for me. People forever have been asking for more to find in open world.

Housing, I have friends really into it. I have irl house stuff to get done, so its not worth my time

    New stickerbook, awesome concept.

    Whats lacking:
    Performance. Been mentioned forever.

Balance: I'm so tired of regrinding. I really dont have energy for it. Antiquities sets are so powerful and I just dont have the time to grind it out. For real, some of the dungeons I've already done so many times.

Pvp. Its bad. Game mechanics carry it but there is soooooo little effort in development. They cant even release a new bg map or game mode? Cant break apart cyro or micro pvp zones. I started right after IC dropped whenever that was and im hust seriously bored and dont play eso.

So overall, great story writers, graphics, building suspense, enthusiasm, taking ideas I saw on posts YEARS ago (find something for overland adventures) found a way to reduce grind. Ut would be a great game to step new into. For a vet...though not great...pvper....soooooooooooo bored

The crashes with the most recent update and the time it took to fix them was saddening. -5

The actual content is fantastic when it works. +2

You know they still have yet to fix the crashing issues right? I was watching my friend stream their Asylum run tonight and the amount of people crashing was astonishing.

Yes the stickerbook is a pretty wonderful addition to the game can't argue with that.

Can't really say as different aspects range between fantastic and complete dumpster fire.

The entire chapter from dungeons/arenas/trials to overland and story content was very well done. Stickerbook is one of the best features ever added to the game.

The performance and stability were a mess though.
