Why can anyone hijack your PVP siege?

With the introduction of lancers this is a really terrible design. Someone griefed me today just sitting there on it trying to let it die. What benefit is there really to allowing others access to your siege? I never see anyone laying down siege for others to use, it dies to fast if it just sits there unused.

✭✭✭✭✭Because it we didn't, you'd get trolls doing the reverse: setting down loads of siege and refusing to use it so no one could set any down for a while.
Sure, it sucks to lose siege to trolls.
But at least this way I can set up an oil and someone else can take over if I get attacked, get distracted, or die.12 -

✭✭✭✭✭It’s really annoying when you exit the siege to renew your buff and a low level player takes it because he doesn’t want to spend AP or gold on siege.
I’ve had this happen before more than once and the players told me such in zone chat when it happened.
I’d rather my siege vanish when I die and let someone else place their own instead of leaving me dead and taking my siege, which has happened a few times as well.

✭✭My guess it's because it's supposed to be about 'working together' but people who use other people siege are generally just leeches who are to cheap to buy their own siege.
The ones who steal the Emperor's siege are the dumbest of the dumb3 -

Despite the fact getting them is a pain and losing them to either another alliance or your own alliance is very likely
Tbh i wouldnt expect much to change it Zos is in cash cow mode new crates drop tomrrow!
While performance for Pve And PvP is in the shitter atm Balance in PvP Atm is a really bad joke
Something like lancers arent high on the priority list less they can charge us crowns for them then its a safe bet they will continue to get jacked by players of the same faction burned with ease by opposing factions or destroyed by a keep shifting upgrades if you place it on the wrong spot.. *Which they dont refund back btw*
Mean while getting a lead to drop seems to be less and less frequent getting 1 of the better lead versions even less so
nothing against the frost lancer but compared to the fire or shock lancer frost is not offering much
But hey new possible cyrodill content I want a freaking cold fire lancer that way when a zerg of 30 players all 40k HP in crimson procs roll in they might actually die to something lol0 -
Pink_E_808✭✭✭✭PS4 NA. I refuse to even use lancers at the moment due to all the freezes and blue screens, let alone others taking over my siege weapons (lancers and in general, which is definitely a pet peeve of mine, especially as a solo player in PvP). Today was better than it's been in a long, long time for me with no freezes or blue screens and not too much lag, but I'm also very wary and not in a hurry to use them again atm.4 -

✭✭✭I don't mind if people use my siege but yesterday I lost 2 cold fire sieges. First one, I got attacked and some tool hopped on it before I could pick it up. Then Zeni took another cold fire when they decided to boot me out of the game.
If you want a friend, get a dog.

✭✭✭✭✭Sadly sometimes it seems like if others couldn't jump on any siege, there would be no siege at all. Often 10 players will be dancing around in the oils without a single piece of siege placed.0 -

✭✭It might also be mitigated if they allowed the siege owner to pick up the siege even if someone else is sitting on it, which would need a timer to prevent exploiting it to rapid fire the siege.
Where this really bugs me is oils and ballistas where I set them up to optimize my fire rate, and some jag hops on and parks there when they should be placing their own or doing something else actually useful.2 -

When I lost my perfectly placed Ice Lancer last month to all of Cyrodiil around Aleswell crashing I wanted to cry. Think I got 20 kills on that thing and kept it repaired during the entire siege only to loose it to a disconnect. :'(PC NA - Ceyanna Ashton - Breton Vampire MagDK0 -

Being able to pack up my siege with someone else on it would be nice. I can't even tell you how many times I've jumped off the top floor of a keep to my death due to people getting on my oils during my rotation. I get it if it's by accident or someone is new and doesn't know not to, I did it a couple of times when I first started, too, but I learned quickly to buy my own (i.e., was yelled at in zone chat, lol). I also frequently put down three or four ballistas at a time in a triangle or diamond pattern and stand right in the middle to make the most of firing without having to move. If I have enough on me, I'll drop extras for others or put down a ram, but I also run solo in PvP so I just don't have the ap to spend for other people to use what I bought.0 -

I've actually found the majority of siege "thieves" to be noobs rather than trolls/griefers, most will leave it and promise not to do it again when spoken to politely.
As for lancers it's just one more reason to always have repair kits quickslotted.
Frankly, if you're doing a lot of pvp you should be drowning in lancers by now, anyway.

Pretty much this. I could use my alt to put down seige fill up part of the siege the alliance can put down at a keep. Would be great to hinder defense but also could be used if we saw a large number of players headed to try to take a keep.

I did have someone do something nice for me today, as I was sieging they repaired my almost dead ballista, didn’t know anyone else could do that. I wanted to tell them I had plenty more but it was crazy busy at that moment.
