Why the stigma for "fantasy" armor?

It's in keeping with the elder scrolls aesthetics. If you look at TES you see the theme is rather browns and muted greens ...no bright colours or glowy armour not anywhere near as what we have in eso.

I honestly feel zos have been rather bold in allowing all those glowy mounts , bright dyes etc but i see there was a big demand for it so they did it to raise interest in the store items such as crates ...as you know mounts can drop from store crates/b]

I personally dislike glowy mounts tbh.....just my opinion though

I've often thought about how dull a lot of NPCs (mostly the enemies) look. I mean for example, High Kinlady Estre, went from wearing a golden/green dress to wearing a black dress when fighting, so I wouldn't mind more colourful themes for enemy NPCs, and I generally think that's a trend (I remember another friend-to-enemy NPC with the same problem) It may be lore, it may be fashion choices, what do I know.

What I would mind though, is if armor in game were big bulky colourful armour a la WOW, since that is one of the reasons I don't play that game, and also why I at first was hesitant about even trying out an MMORPG. I'm glad ESO despite it's lack of colour looks the way it does.

As for the player character, generally I like to put colours on my characters, because I like for them to stand out in the open fields, but I wouldn't want shoulder pieces so big that I have to walk sideways through doorways.

I always laugh when people want "realism" in a fantasy setting.

There is no such thing, except what is dictated by the fantasy world itself.

Have you played The Witcher games? Have you watched Game of Thrones? You can have a fantasy world without ridiculous visuals.

Who cares about that crap. If you dont like it dont wear it. Tmog is one of the most important aspects of a game, and when most of your tmog items dont look so good thats a problem.

I think they changed her outfit to the yellow dress. She used to wear the regular old Altmer robes all the time, IIRC.

    Yep.

The "armour" "style" of the female "warrior" on Arena was of course to their then-demographic, which at the time couldn't possibly have been women, apparently. Yet, I've been gaming since the mid-80s; my first PC game was Ultima 7 I think. Fortunately they (being devs as a whole, not just ZOS/Bethesda) realised that we ARE part of their demographic, a while back.

Still, the topic reminded me of this... https://youtube.com/watch?v=-vI5tdORhC0&list=PLSMETuURtTXCzW7Q_ZIy4QzEnyUG8totf&index=4

I like the game's aesthetic of mostly medieval colours and nothing too flashy (only NPCs).

All these skins, weird hats and effects are an eyesore, that are bringing ESO closer to FFXIV and other fanservice MMOs.

If your character stands out way too much from NPCs then it's too much.

The appearances of the weapons and armor is something that I don't lose sleep over. It's hard to take any of it seriously when your character is running on the back of its horse. XD

I have 18 characters, and there are only 18 tops that have a short skirt with no flaps in the game. Good enough.
    That's it, that's all.
