I do not see how this is a big deal as anyone on PC can dl the game from the ESO website. If they want to buy the game via Steam, the standard edition (base game) is on sale via Steam.

Steam isn't a separate "platform" or server. They can just download the game directly from ESO if they want to try it out. Stadia allows you to use different hardware, but Steam and PC would use the same setups. Nobody is excluded

LOL. A great example that going through a third party when it is not necessary is such a bad idea.

Steam is not a "server". It plays on the PC megaservers. Anybody can download the game directly from www.elderscrollsonline.com and play the game. Nobody is being excluded from experiencing the free trial.

Any Steam user can download the game from ZOS and play it free for 6 days. They don't need to run it through Steam. If they like the game and want to buy it through Steam (which few would recommend as it adds an unnecessary third party into the connection) they can then link the account they created through ZOS to Steam and keep the progress they made in the trial. So the offer is freely available to Steam users, just not through Steam.

To be fair, in the past when ZOS did free play periods, Steam was included. Why it is not included this time? No idea.

Perhaps it is possible that with the addition of Stadia, a service that must be paid for, ZOS could not offer the free play across all PC access points. Thus limiting the free play to their own direct PC access point out of necessity.

Facts do indeed matter, and the fact is that no Steam user is denied access to the free trial or the ability after the trial is over to continue their progress through Steam. Your complaint is that if you want to recommend the trial to a friend from Steam he/she can't participate - that is false.

Agreed. The bigger problem here though should be focused at ZOS themselves who continually choose to expand ESO on multiple 3rd party platforms (Steam, Console, Stadia...more to come) -- all while proceeding to favor standalone exclusivity on PC. This goes far past just a F2P week. Players are being disenfranchised for years by bad company decisions is the main issue. Quantity over quality is rampant in the gaming industry and we the players pay into it and are naive enough to ask why it's happening. Joke is on us. :/

But the important thing is that they are not at all inconvenienced because they can still download the game and play the trial then link their account to Steam. You can still recommend the game to friends from Steam and 6 days later they'll be playing it on Steam if they wish to. Ignoring that and just huffing and puffing because they have to download it from ZOS rather than Steam is just being pedantic for its own sake. Steam users are actually better off with this trial than non-Steam users are when Steam run special offers that only apply to those who bought or wish to buy ESO through Steam. Whether you're factually correct is irrelevant because the point you're making is such a narrow one and of absolutely no consequence as the trial is open to everyone, even Steam users.

Steam is a third party sales outlet. There is nothing to stop someone who prefers to have their games locked into Steam from downloading the game via Zos/ESO website and test it out. After this trial is over, if they wish to purchase the game they can purchase it via Steam and continue playing.

Therefore, no one is being excluded or inconvenienced from participating in the PC/Max server trial unless they choose to exclude themselves.
