I thought this was going to be about the loss of the slowdown on blockade.
    Boy was I wrong.

I second that. Slowdown loss was a needless change. Shield is almost useless, while slowdown actually gave your fellow players more freedom against trash mobs.

There is still a slowdown, you slowdown your teammates by reducing their fps

You can use frost clench as a stun now.

That i missed. Remorphed it immediately. Thanks for that.

Sad thing though, that i now have to waste a slot for that. because i really, really loved Frost staff tanking because i did not need a skill for it, thugh the heavy attack was bit slow.

Sorry bud. But your wrong on this one. I get that your in the habotnof heavy attacking to get a taunt. I was too. Its free cast costing you nothing with no slot needed..and you get free resources from it too. Pretty sweet. But, it was ungodly slow and you had to pick your spots to use it or get one shot in high or endgame content. Frost Clench actually makes the frost staff more managable to use making your tank morr effective now that you can taunt instantly from your frost staff vs being volnurable for 3 seconds to get off heavy attack. It may cost your resources and a slot. But its much more efficient and safer for tanking.

You will need to rearrange some skills to fit the skill. But your tank will be better off for it.

You want be to tank but cbf slotting a taunt? Taunt is literally a tank's main job, everything else is secondary. Might want to consider another role

I also loved it on my frost staff magsorc tank. I don't play her anymore. Too bad, she was most fun to play and hot too :(

Why is it so difficult for people to simply acknowledge that frost staff never should have been a tank weapon in the first place?

All of the skills are clearly designed with damage dealing in mind. Just give ice staff back to DD with either a % crit bonus or dot bonus to bring it in line with fire and lighting and make a separate skill tree / weapon for mag tanking.

No other weapon line tries to do double duty like this and its an abject failure as a result. Sorry but this approach is nothing but pure stubborn laziness on the part of the dev team.

    Just sayin.

While I can understand the loss, I've never been able to understand tying taunts to a weapon. Well at least in the way that it was done in this game at least.

All they need to do is make minor brittle proc while not on your ice staff. That way tanks using ice staves can atleast have a decent uptime on brittle or huge uptime if they're a warden with gripping shards/ frost watcher. All my infused ice staves are looking really sad rn.

I agree. I even thought of transmuting my infused staff to charged to have more chances of applying minor brittle while I activate WoE. But still, the loss will be greater than using infused with crusher.

They probably made minor brittle proc from your active bar only so that only players who use ice staves as main weapon can benefit from it.

That's exactly why they did it, to force the ice staff to be actually useful.

    As a support weapon?

Btw, do you know if they already fixed brittle not applying properly when there is minor maim?

In general. Also in reguards to the bug i have no idea but I'll look into it. Honestly taking a break from the game rn and playing WoW casually.

I am not a big fan of the change because Wall of Frost was my main CC on my Templar Tank. Now I don't have a good way to slow trash to stop it mauling my dps before they can kill it.

    Perhaps Razor Caltrops could suffice?

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Well, thing is, wall was already a slotted skill to proc backbar crusher enchantment. Caltrops can do the same slowing effect, but that's an additional skill slot.

The bottom line is frost staffs are seeing more use now than ever. It's always preferred for there to be one player (tank or DD) front bar a frost staff. Prior to this patch frost staff (primary or both bars) was almost strictly inferior to SnB tanking. Now both provide something very useful (minor brittle and minor breach) and you can to choose what works best for your group.

The main issue currently is the buggy conflicts with chill and maim sources. That's the main thing ZoS needs to work on for the staff.

This sentence features kernels of truth; like small diamonds, amidst sand... Let's pan, shall we?

Loved. Staff. Because. I. Did. Not. Need. Skill.

That pretty much sums up combat in ESO. It's almost profound...
