Poll - Should we be compensated for our grievances?

Over the last few weeks, we have felt the pains in our own ways: Crashes, broken quests, reset skills, light attacks, etc.

Is it fair to ask we be compensated in some way for our grievances?

Granted these are difficult times and things will take longer to sort out but accountability and professionalism should not take a back seat to customers that have purchased the game and pay monthly subscriptions. A gesture of good faith would go a long way in retaining many players who are ready to throw in the towel, especially considering the upcoming releases of other titles.

In game compensation still leaves the game in a rubbish state. Would prefer more people be hired that are experienced in QA testing and more peeps in general so more bugs are fixed before making it to live.

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

This. I love the game but I am getting discouraged by the constant crashes that I find myself logging off in frustration and not logging in the rest of the day. I am asking my self if I cant play why should I pay?

Yeah that covers them from legal action but it can’t stop players from leaving the game in frustration. Burned out come back after a break, frustrated ones typically don’t something to smooth things over would go a long way.

First, it costs them nothing to often offer some virtual tidbit if they want, so sure, whatever.

But if they are going to do anything capital wise, I'd rather see the money spent on making sure the next patch is tested BEFORE PTS.

We do not work for you zos.

We are not your official testers.

The patches should be almost perfect by the time it comes to PTS and we should be finding the balance issues to offer opinions on and finding rarer hidden bugs. Not pointing out common stuff like rapids doesn't work and waiting a month for it to be fixed after it goes live.

If the game is doing well, then put your money where your mouth is.

What do you mean? I’m not saying the have to make this right that players are owed anything I clearly stated that they are legally covered. That’s not the problem here the small doesn’t matter. ZoS don’t have to do anything for players to make up for the games broken state but players don’t have to play the game.

Without ESO players will move on to other things without players ZoS move to the unemployment line. It’s in there own best interest to make things right they legal are not required to but they most likely will as players are not required to keep ZoS employed.

Compensated isn't the word I would use. In my opinion, they need to acknowledge the situation though. They need to publicly admit the bugs and actually work to fix them and maybe even fix some of them. That would be appropriate "compensation" in this situation.

We were promised better communication, yet I see nothing that even looks like 'I'm so sorry we screwed up. We know we pushed bugs y'all found on PTS to the live server. We know you are crashing in dungeons, trials and PvP. We're sorry, we're fixing this asap.'

    Nothing. Of. That. Sort.

Yes. Not because I think they have to or something but it's actually standard practice in lots of other games to give out small gifts and compensation when unexpected problems cause the player base grief. It doesn't really cost anything and those small gestures say "hey, we care". Now should that happen for every single little thing or every time, no of course not but we do normally have to deal with game breaking bugs for two weeks at a shot now so little things like a compensation gift would go a long way to improve moral about the game.

I answered no because we have no actual right to compensation because something did not work right. This is based on the agreement each of us that actually plays the game has accepted.

We all have the right to withhold our money. That is the nature of free enterprise and is a decision we much each make on our own. I choose to continue to play and enjoy the game.

Well does any of you realise that there is a refund option of your eso+ subscription for technical problems? (or even general dissatisfaction, provided you have a reason I suppose)
I mean, I like to pay companies and buy games or in this case also subscribe (eso is on since many years, I feel like it's my duty to support the company) but this was too much for me.

I came back after years of inactivity, started an eso+ and found the game like this...guess what?
    I asked for a refund.
No complains, no forum rage...sometimes I think that people forget the easy way, of course there are tos and little rules written everywhere but, as far as I can tell, this company has also a clear policy about refunds which they applied with me.

As I also mentioned in the refund mail I'll gladly come back to subscribe when the status of the game will be less disastrous but other than that it took me something like a few hours to get in contact with them and apply for a refund.

I'm not saying that everyone should do it (I hate those warcries of insurgency) but the whole topic has in theory already an answer, and is yes.

It would be nice if they did something, but anything they do will never be enough to please everyone. If they made the next chapter a free update we'd have people complaining that it's because they know it's not good enough to sell, it's mostly open-world PvE which only appeals to casual players when it's PvPers and people doing trials/vet dungeons who have the most problems and calling it "a slap in the face" and adding insult to injury.

Besides which I'd much rather they focus on actually fixing the problems than giving players a pat on the head and a cookie for their hurt feelings. It really doesn't matter what trinkets they chuck out if the game they're part of isn't functional. The best thing they could do for us is get it working.

As a compensation we could use a functional game. I started during Dragonbones patch and it was actually pretty good patch. Since then every single patch introduces game breaking bugs, tiresome meta-swings and so on. Can we just please enjoy the game that works in peace for once.

    @Liukke

You did exactly what I said we can do, withhold our money. I suppose you quoted me in agreement.

    Yes
To all those saying "read the tos". The poll question isn't "is ZoS obligated or required to compensate". No. Of course they aren't. In fact, they aren't required to even have the servers running. If they wanted, they could shut them down for extended maintenance for 2 years due to a problem and say "we're investigating, read the tos" and continue to bill eso+ users and sell crown store items on the web.

The poll reads "should we be compensated." To all the armchair lawyers, there is sometimes a valid business argument to be made for goodwill gestures/gifts to customers. In this case, the recent quality has been so poor, with numerous severe bugs, that some customers have been turned off entirely.

My yes answer is really a maybe, leaning toward yes. The thing is that ZoS has a very captive audience, and they know it. So, they can really get away with quite a bit before it hurts them.

I dont give a *** about compensation, i just want the performance to improve a lot more than its current state.

Absolutely yes. It is illegal to sell a product that does not work, regardless of what their "legal" agreement says.

    ...the product does work though?

No one is saying there aren't bugs. But you guys are really driving this erroneous hyperbole of "unplayable" into the ground.
