Is Green Lotus worth slotting?

Tigerboy78
So I know I should use Barbed Trap instead of Green Lotus but I really like it. Is it horrible to use GL over Barbed Trap?

The two skills do different tings.

Green lotus, causes your light and heavy attacks to heal you or an ally, and it provides major savagery, which is crit chance.

Barbed trap, damages the any enemies that trigger it, and apply a small dot damage, and provides minor force, which is crit damage.

Id use both :) Nothing wrong with Green lotus, its great skill.

Well both abilities are trying to accomplish two separate things, but one thing to keep note of is you would be missing out on the increased weapon damage granted by the fighter's guild passive if you went Green Lotus. Now Green Lotus does grant increased crit and healing so if that's what you need I say go for it, but the trap boosts your critical damage, applies a DoT, and applies light CC in the form of Immobilize.

That being said I'm more of a magicka build person so my experience on the matter isn't as great. If you are using Green Lotus for the critical chance you could use Expert Hunter to get the extra crit chance while also getting more passive weapon damage on the bar its on.

For most content I combine Netch with lotus to get the major brutality/sorcery plus major savagery. The skills last a long time and can be cast every second rotation. Slot bird of prey for another 5% damage boost as well plus the 2% overall dmg boost from the animal passive. I believe the warden minor toughness passive also kicks in while being healed from green lotus as well. All of these stacked self buffs are wardens bread and butter.

Run trap for an additional buff to your crit or go get Tzogvin’s from Frostvault and you will have 100% uptime on minor force. Tzogvin is the werewolf meta set but it works fine as non werewolf as well. Freeing up the slot for trap allows you to slot an extra shield or heal or a skill like circle of protection to help your sustain.

I only use Lotus on my Stamina Healer but it is good at what it does.

My only gripe is that the two morphs are completely redundant and could easily be combined to make room for a more interesting second morph.

My other gripe is that it doesn't proc the Green Balance sustain passive when it self-heals. I realize that would be imbalanced (which could be remedied by tuning...) but it would also give a more compelling reason to slot the skill in more types of content.

Normally I slot Barbed Trap on my back bar. I didn't put points into the passive weapon damage from Fighters guild because I assumed the passive only helps when I'm using skills on my back bar , similar to how Bird of Prey buff works.

I suppose it's whether I want Crit damage or crit chance. I could slot both abilities but I like my back bar setup.

I also run netch + lotus most of the time. I often log near the top healing source as a result. It's invaluable on a 3 DD run, or when your healer isn't very good or just to take pressure off them so they can do more damage/buffing.

For soloing it's also really useful - losing a few percent dps in order to not end up dead is a big in in my book 8)
Too many toons not enough time

On a standard build you get the savagery buff from potions. No need to slot Lotus in that case

But not in pvp. Barbed trap may increase your damage in pvp too but you'd be better off slotting a CC or survival ability.
