For someone named "free spirit" you seem to be rather narrow minded.
TES has a huge following and a large portion of the current player base for ESO comes from that line of single player games. If you removed all solo players from this game, Tamriel would be a ghost town continent.
Getting crystals from solo content is just as painful now as it was before the latest update.
I simply don't do PvP. I deal with enough crap in RL that dealing with it in a PvP sandbox is not something I care to do. As for group content...Again, RL simply doesn't give me the time needed to play group content. By all means, play group content if you wish, but solo players should not be denied access to the perks and items enjoyed by those who DO have the time and desire to engage in group play.

While I agree with you on the first part of your post, getting crystals solo is quite easy as it ever used to be. Go to Cyrodil, buy some siege and wood and you will get the necessary AP for the 50 crystal reward in less than an hour (especially durinhüg the weekend).
While I admittedly to a ton of PvP, it is by far the easiest way to gather crystals. First, buy wood and stone repair kits, make sure the campaign you enter is set as your home campaign, and is one of the 30 day ones. Also expect to die a lot, it's a game so it's no big deal really.
A nightblade with sneak gear will make things easier, but you can play any class really. I have a few low lvl chars that are awful for pvp, but they still work. You could group up, but it isn't really necessary, I usually go solo or duo there.
Now, look for the big battles, if you're defending a keep, repair something, if you're attacking, just be there. Same applies to resources. Once you have 25k ap and have reached the first reward tier, go with the next character. Each char will 50 crystals when the campaign ends. Any character over lvl will work.
And while you're there, try and enjoy the view, it's a really cool zone even if you ignore the pvp part, way different than the rest of the game. If you haven't already, go for the skyshards that are nearby.

Then do your daily random dungeon with them as a healer healing your team early on. As your CP gets higher and you do a ton of damage, you can queue as a healer with mostly dps and one or two heals. Random normal dungeons are super easy. For EVERY character that does their daily random dungeon, you get 10 transmute crystals. If you have 10 characters, that's 100 crystals in a day. This can be done 'solo' with the other three players tagging along making it easier. This is the best way to get transmutes as a solo player. The secondary benefit is doing random dungeons will also fill your sticker book with the drops you get.

For us non Pvper, please elaborate
How does buying these things (which I have stashed away for literally years) get us AP?
Can you use AP to buy crystals? I have 900k stashed in the bank (over the years I have made one or two or a hundred extra characters and always do the tutorial at level 10)
Thank you for your information

A simple tag like "Already in Set Collection" could show up when you over the cursor over the item, similar to motifs that are already in your library.
It's not as big of an issue for Dungeon/Arena/Trial sets, but for overland sets that don't bind after so many hours, it becomes tedious to look at your set collections menu to go through and see what you do/don't have before you bind.
The "sticker-book" is a good idea. But tying recreation of sets to the possession of transmute crystals is another flawed mechanic. Having played ESO for more than 3 years, I have some 160 transmute crystals. With transmute geodes now only available as drops in group dungeons and pledges, i will be limited in my ability to obtain transmute crystals. This because My time to participate in group events is quite limited. This mechanic, as so many others in the game, ignore the solo player in favor in favor of those who play in groups. And this mechanic for obtaining transmute crystals once again highlights one of my chief complaints about the game. There should be NO content/armor/weapons/sets/mats/items that are not accessible to the solo player. Keep your cyrodiil playground for the PvP'ers, but give solo players the same access to items that group players have.

If you don't do group content to get crystals, then what are you going to spend your crystals on? Everything else can be crafted, farmed, or purchased from a guild trader/player. You use crafting materials and gold as resources for item acquisition at that point, which are readily accessible to a "solo player." I mean - you said it yourself - you played 3 years and have accrued only 160 crystals, so what dungeons/trial sets do you own enough of to warrant a reconstruction?
