Antiquities: Hard Lock while digging.

While I am digging for antiquities, there is a rare, if not Uncommon case where I go to use the Heavy Shovel to unearth the main antiquity and the Game Just completely Freezes and Hard Locks, thus I have to hit the Xbox button on my controller to return to the Home menu and jumpstart the game again, and once I login, I have to use the antiquarians eye and find a different dig site and hope that it doesn’t occur again.

Quite easy to replicate this crash bug and quite frankly, I wish to see this bug squashed...

I have the same issue, and it's not that rare. It's about 50/50 on whether it will freeze or not. Tonight after 4 freezes I gave up and quit. Really hard to dig up a gold lead without using heavy shovel. It is limited to only heavy shovel, does not happen during other actions. Xbox NA.

As an additional bit of information, on PC NA I've noticed sometimes when using the heavy shovel I get a prompt 'are you sure you want to leave the dig site? All progress will be lost.' (something like that)

Only happens sometimes.

Even when all I press is the left click to use the heavy shovel. Happens just as the digging occurs.

On PC I just tell the pop up to stay in the dig site, but possibly something similar is happening on console but you don't get the popup?

It does happen on console Xbox NA as well. Also the vibration motor often locks up at the same time and keeps going until I pop batteries out or restart the game.

And the freezing....yep. Wouldn’t say 50/50 but almost guaranteed at least one or two excavations will freeze out of the 10 I do a day approximately

I was surprised to find this bug line ... I am on Xbox EU.
This has been happening since last year and I thought it had been squashed, but today, twice in an 45 minutes I have been forced to restart because of the the freeze

I also got this on the "Excavation" before each freeze, so I wonder if there maybe a connection to the two as if the console gets an order you want to leave, then follows it up with a crash!

I just had that, too, on XBOX NA / Series S. If I pressed the circular XBOX button to get to the menu, the vibrating would stop, but if I returned to the game, it was back on. I had to shut down the game completely and restart it.

It also has been occurring frequently in gamepad mode on PC-NA.

I often get the same message Fennwitty mentioned about “are you sure you want to exit?” when I haven’t done anything to try to leave the excavation. At first I thought it was my cats hitting something by mistake, but it’s been occurring without their attempts at laptop gaming as well.

I have also been having this issue for months. For example, I did antiquities for a couple hours today and encountered this bug more than a dozen times. It's really annoying and makes antiquities an unpleasant chore.
