Bought it because it does not look like the picture... after checking it in-game it looks better in full black. Always preview the items in-game before buying.

Ever since I bought the dwarven spider mount with a gem in the front, I always assume it looks different in pictures. As that gem was supposed to be glowing, and it wasn't glowing in-game(still love it though).

Stand still and press space while mounted for the glowing gem
Wow, it works! Thank you very much! I have the mount, and never knew this. haha

Nothing in ESO websites looks like in game items, gear, homes, characters, pets....you name it, so this really shouldn't come as a surprise.

If you're not getting the detail you desire, maybe a change in settings could help?

Which is exactly why I didn't consider buying it after I looked at the preview.

TBF, I'm not saying you are wrong and that the other pic hasn't been changed, but as someone that did photography for years you are not comparing them very fairly. You'd be surprised how much lighting, not just on the subject, but scenery as well changes how we view colors, not to mention any graphical settings that could be different from your pic to the other. If you ever try and use comparison pics for examples you should try and recreate the exact same picture as closely as you can, taking it with same graphics if possible, same gamma, same lighting, same scene, etc. It allows people to ignore all the stuff I mention and focus on what's actually not accurate.

This is what I did in my screenshot comparisons on the first page.

I did one with the same lighting; clear-sky morning lighting from the back with a stone fireplace offset to the front. I used the highest possible settings - which I play on anyways. The gamma is at the suggested settings as defined by the in-game gamma adjustment. You can tell that the gamma in the marketing photo is not extreme one way or another because of the lows and mids in the fireplace and background building. I did everything I could do within observation to recreate the outcome - and it's still not accurate.

The marketing photo was 100% touched up, but that's already known because it's a marketing photo. It's meant to highlight and accentuate the details of the product, rather than being an objective representation of the product.
