Pit Fighter/hero achievement bugged, or am I dumb?

So I've been watching my counter for the Pit Fighter achievement because I want the dye to make a Christmas outfit...
Just did 6 battlegrounds with my guild, 2 crazy kings, 1 relic hunter, 1 death match, 1 chaos ball, 1 whatever the other flag one is
The counter only went up after the deathmatch, which we lost and I had no killing blows. The other 5 matches we won and I had 6-15 killing blows and upwards of 2k points each, so I'm confused...
This achievement doesnt specify that it has to be earned in Deathmatches, but does it?

Just finished our 7th match and for the 2nd time even though we're queuing as a group, someone gets left behind? This time it was our group leader and we ended up with a pug in her place.0
