Bots are ruining this experience for me.

I have been playing eso since it came out. I have spent a lot of money on houses, outfits, mounts gear etc...

Are BOTS spending money on these things?

There are so many bots running around hogging up resources that it's becoming no fun. It's running the game for me.

It's not fair that these bots employ some superior mechanics that makes them faster at mining or gathering. I am at a high level - I have invested enough time in this game to have earned 2 PHDs (sad), and these idiot level 3 bots are outdoing me.

Since ESO obviously will not remedy this bot situation, they should at least allow people actually playing the game to lead a pack of wolves to a bot and kill it. Every time I lead a wolf to a bot, the wolf ignores the bot.

Really, you've got to do something... or I am done. This is absolute BS...

Farming and gathering resources isn't going to be feasible soon if this continues.

The bots are ruining the game for a lot of legitimate players in many ways.
One big way is the point you make above.

But there are a lot of players who dont like farming, so they rarely/never go to the places where the bots are farming.
They don't care about your game experience, because they don't see it and aren't affected by it.

Instead, they like the cheap prices that the tireless bot-trains supply for resource mats and items or gold.

You see a lot of them talking here in the forums about how bots are providing a service.
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

How are bots ruining your experience? Go farm in another zone, there's plenty of room where no one is around.
And if you keep your prices competitive then where's the problem. I dont support any kind of cheating/botting but thanks to them the mat prices stay in check.

I never thought of it that way... how they keep prices lower... I never thought of that and I can appreciate that...

I'm sure this sounds lame to a lot of folks... but sometimes I am just not in the mood to do a vet dungeon... Sometimes I just want to cruise around the landscape and pick up resources and listen to music. I enjoy doing that. It's relaxing. I have done it for years. Sometimes when I would play Skyrim, I'd just go hunting with the bow.

I don't farm resources to sell in the guild... I farm to build things.

Now, many of my favorite areas are suddenly packed with bots. Today It seemed everywhere I tried to go was filled with bots. I even wandered into an area on the side of a castle with 8-10 bots just standing around doing nothing - all level 3, blonde female bots in their underwear. - it was weird. The Islands are jammed with bots.

What especially bothers me is that I'll be in the process of gathering the resource and a bot runs up behind me and
it gets the resource. For some reason, you can't beat a bot -

So is this a console issue?

ZOS has put measures in place to catch botting and cheating. Unfortunately, the reality is even less satisfying than that - And that unsatisfying reality doesn't really care how much money or time you've invested into the game.

There's a cycle in which people write the bots, the bots get noticed, methods of detecting the bots are implemented, the bot accounts have corrective actions taken against them, people write new bots working around old detection methods; You can see where this is going. ZOS doesn't discuss this matter openly on the forums - not just due to the sensitive nature of corrective actions - but also even the smallest of details or acknowledgements could lead to new exploits being searched for and found.

It's not as easy as writing some blanket detection method, or banning the use of all 3rd party programs. People are very creative in finding ways that they circumvent restrictions and detection, and exploit security loopholes to avoid detection. In fact, there's an entire industry centered around anti-cheat, anti-botting, and anti-exploiting. There's also an entire industry serving cheats, bots, and expoloits to those with the capital, and there's never been a game free of cheats, bots, nor exploits.

Again, this is an unsatisfying answer, but also the reality of the situation. The only thing you can really do is report the people you believe to be botting, and - well - that's it.

Making ultimatums does not help increase awareness, nor expedite the process. It only helps to cheapen the genuine feedback and concerns you're expressing, and comes across as petulant. You do have genuine concerns, so let's not cheapen that.

    Yes.

This has been going on for... hmm... I don't recall seeing groups like this before One Tamriel launched. Afterwards? There are certain spots you will run into these groups regularly. It's really disruptive to anyone who likes to immerse in their gaming experience.

Sometimes it is groups of sorcerers spamming lightning form and staff heavy attacks with pets out. Sometimes those groups are stationary, other times they have pre-programmed paths they follow. These are usually harvesting mudcrabs, wolves, or other mobs that drop leather.

Sometimes it is stationary node harvesting bots, which are especially common on the starter islands. They will just stand here, occasionally you see them pull out their map for a split second (probably to try and trick anti-botting protocols), but they pretty much just camp nodes in place and harvest them as soon as they spawn (usually blacksmithing nodes).

Sometimes it is more advanced pathing bots that go from node to node, often targeting specific node types and ignoring other types. In Coldharbor, you'll see alchemy harvesting bots on occasion. On the starter islands, it's mostly blacksmithing nodes and they ignore the rest. The most sophisticated type is found in Craglorn, where the botter trains them up with rapids and a horse (those might be an extinct type since the rapids change, though).

In any case, ZoS chooses not to deal with them. Or rather, they choose not to deal with them well enough, to be fair.

The best way to "outplay" bots, is to farm stuff that can't be farmed by bots. And also stuff you actually enjoy doing. The best farm atm is thieves guild heists with a chance of heavy syvarahs pieces that sell for up to 1 mio each. If you enjoy the quest it's more fun then running nodes.

Other activities include, doing PvP and sell the ap. Farm new motifs and housing stuff. Or plain old crafting. Bots can't ruin those activities for you :)

Been here since beta and most of the bots have to 😆

I don't see them ever unless I visit the base game zones.

Cyrodiil bots re even worse : mostly in EP cp-campaign or AD no-cp... i seen about 20-30 bots - sometimes more - running together and spamming one or max two skills - they do nothing else - just run and spam - pls investigate them coz they re poorly designed and probably easy to detect - i runned away with 3-4 of them and killed without problems with ultimate and one aoe ! Rly bad algorithms and not-human like behaviour makes things clear !

Issue with bots is the same as a hydra, cut one head off two take its place. So long as morons buy from the gold sellers bits will exist, though I did find placing sacks of mystery meat screws up their pathing and its great.
