I wish there were healing and tanking training dummies, too

Example - A dummy that takes constant damage, and your Healer tries to outheal the damage without having to resort to heavy attacks for Magicka. It would not only test healing potency, but Magicka sustain as well. Another example could be a timed dummy, where you have X amount of seconds to go through a healing rotation, alternating with burst and HoT.

For tanking, it would be nice to see just how tanky your character really is. Can they survive a constant stream of damage, mixed with blocking and and self healing? Or how long can you fully keep block up/how hard of hits can you block.

Yes, I'm sure I could beg, borrow, or steal some guildmates to help me test things like this, but it'd be cool to see, pound for pound, which one of my healers performs better "in the raw"

The issue with both is you need a new menu to edit the dummies to set how much dmg they do or lose.

I actually would love if we could configure our dummies to fight back and add some combat behaviors. Of course people gets a lot of DPS values... it's easy when you target doesn't react, but a fighting dummy would be a great addition to get our true DPS: taking an actual fight into account.

One way around making a new menu could be separate dummies; one for DPS, one for healing, one for tanking. Or, ZOS could create separate instanced rooms, similar to the room you meet the Benefactor in (same room for all players, but 100% instanced). One room for each dummy.

Yes, I would love if the dummies could fight back. I don't believe there are any enemies in the game, even starter zone PvE, that just stand still and do nothing.

I may have to organize a "Dojo" with my guildmates

Any decent tank will turn most bosses into a target dummy for a large portion of the encounter.

A healing dummy would be nice though. Just a dummy that takes sustained continuous damage over x amount of time. So you can measure healing output and buff uptimes. Option to simulate damage mechanic would be nice, but simplest may be best.

I saw this same suggestion on eso live. I would support it with some tweaks

I use Ilambris + Thunderbug on my solo overland tank set. It sure would be nice to at least have the target dummy proc them - because that's half my damage.

I've always thought they should have a PvP dummy that you can set to block, take cc etc... That applies battlespirit as well and maybe even attacks the player

Healing, go join an dragon zerg, seriously it works a lot like an very bad pug group in an normal trial :)
You heal, you need to do lots of emergency heals, not all buffs works outside of group but you can practice them.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Should be able to measure healing per second and buff uptime ( # of buffs applied / total uptime for all buffs applied) to come up with a buff score. Dummys health gradually erodes at first but over time its gets stronger and stronger until it is untenable.

vAS last boss is great dummy for tanks. Go straight to last boss, there are no adds or mechs. If you can stay alive alone indefinitely then you can tank any content. This boss is great because it tests everything, your sustain, resistances/block, self healing.

The only healing dummy I have seen in an MMORPG was almost worthless. It is meaningless if someone can handle a simple dummy as it cannot possibly mimic the damage output of every boss in the game. Heck, players do not stand around either and there are other mechanics that are occurring that the healer needs to take care of that a dummy would not duplicate. Similar can be said about taking on a dummy.

Both situations only allow someone to practice maintaining resources in the most boring situations. Learning to heal, and I mean becoming a good healer, takes time in the saddle of actual fights

BTW, for DPS the rotation is much more refined than a healing rotation and tanks do not have rotations. That is why a DPS dummy is beneficial.

I'd definitely buy tank and healer dummies.

Yes, I know about St. Olm's for tanks and have used it myself, but I'd rather have a consistent controlled one I can reset at will. Also, vAS is for endgame tanking only and requires the Clockwork DLC or ESO+. It's not going to help any tiny new tanks or mid level tanks bc they'll fall over just by St. Olm's breathing on them.

While his breath does stink, there is always normal, you know, before the garlic.

Dps used to do same thing with spindleclutch boss.

It definitely wont teach you mechanics but it will point you in the direction of sets and skills to use, if they also track buffs applied and their uptime.

As a healer, here's the issue with a 'healing dummy' and this is kind of counter-intuitive to most newer healers:

You want to heal as little as possible.

Your job as the healer is to support the group, which means giving buffs to your group and placing debuffs on the boss and in the meantime, healing just enough to keep your group alive. As a healer a majority of my heals are significant over-heals and it's usually the big chunks of damage or one-shot mechanics that kill players, probably for being stupid.

So you can't really build a dummy that can quantify these skills into a number or a rating. It doesn't take skill to spam Healing Springs and Breath of Life to throw out monster heals. It does take skill to run a build like MK/Zens or any other role where your job is to keep uptime on all the buffs and debuffs you have.

I would love to have those dummies you described OP.

Would also love a Maelstrom solo arena for supports.

Have escport missions, bodyguard missions, chaotic healing situations etc.

You'd have to be extremely uncreative to not be able to make a decent solo dungeon for supports.

There exist other options than "kill A then B"

Olms isn't hard to tank at all. It only does an attack every few seconds, so how can you run out of resources? A lot of dlc dungeon bosses are much harder to tank than this boss.
