Guild Recruitments are out of control

I took a 3 month break, then came back to game and as far as I see the zone chats are literally out of control (talking about PC-EU). There were always people who were recruiting from zone chat but it wasn't as annoying as it is now. Whenever I look at the chat all I see is someone advertising their guilds with a long paragraph which covers the all chat. I don't want to disable the zone chat just because of these people because I actually use the zone chat to see more interesting things (items, conversations, valuable info etc..). Ignoring people might be a temporary solution but there is a limit for that.. Finally, yes, people have the right to use the chat and to publish their guilds and I have no problem with that but these frequent and very long recruitments prevent people, who actually use the zone chat, from having a good experience.

I'll just add that the guild finder is bare bones and awful. When I first listed my guild, I was getting regular applications. But after a while it falls off the first only page. There are not enough filters to attract like minded people. The first only page has guilds listed without even going to the trouble of making a banner.

This probably doesn't help lower the amount of guild commercials in zone chat.

I think the solution is for people to just link their guild in chat with a few words, and anyone interested can now click on it and see the full guild recruiting message and description. Unfortunately most guild recruiters don’t seem to know this and insist on filling your chat box with too much information. Spread the word and we can reduce the spam.

and ignore list +1, not because it's a guild recruitment message but because it's so unoriginal.

The guild finder doesn't seem to show every guild that meets the requirements of the filter. I wish you can search the guild finder by name. I have noticed a lot of guild links in zone chat but I never thought to be annoyed by it. Life's too short to worry about petty stuff. It just causes unhappiness.

I recently came back to the game after some time off. Of course I found myself guildless and I have no problem with being dropped as I was gone for awhile. I was excited to see the in game guild feature, until I really looked at it.

So, I find the chat posts to be better than the guild finder. Now I just have to find a guild that fits...

Yeah I was in the same situation and I totally understand. I'm not saying they're useless, but I think there could be a chat for only recruitments.

Bear in mind that the Guild Finder has essentially been useless for almost 3 months for Trading Guilds, since a lot of our pull comes from our Trader Location, and the Finder hasn't been showing it.

That wouldn't be a bad solution. A place for activity recruiting guilds to put their adverts and links. That way the recruiting doesn't get lost in the chatting or vice-versa. I'd like that.

Periodically, I enable 'zone' in my chat box, then go back to my 'no zone' filtered chat box. Non-game jabber and guild recruiting are the primary reasons. Not saying guilds can't do it but players disabling 'zone' chat is the likely and foreseeable consequences as far as I'm concerned.

My regret is that I actually would like to see 'LF more to help with WB X' and other comments that I consider relevant to my current play session. If I want to listen to debates about builds or look for a guild, I go to this forum. In game, I'm looking to play and spend time with my elf.
