Cookie Cutting in VR

Wondering if we will have to cookie cut specs in VR dungeons. Will a healer have to be in light armor with a restoration staff, will dps need to be in medium armor... ect. I'm just hoping "play your way" doesn't turn into lie. Anyone tried specs in VR dungeons with a Templar healing without staff? A Sorcerer using plate? or a melee dps in plate?

Tank will be DK with light armor, S&B for tanking and destro staff for AoE´ing trash.
DD will be light armor + destro staff or med armor + bow (or light armor too if med isn´t necessary for stamina management).
Heal will be Templar or Sorc with light armor + resto staff.

Take everything with a rather large pinch of salt, I´m being pessimistic about it.

Oh "play your way" is definitely a lie. There's no question. It was their selling point. They did a bait-and-switch on us, knowing that we'd expect Elder Scrolls elements within a game with Elder Scrolls in the title.

But on another hand, this 'is' an MMO, and there will always be elitist in any game, and everyone is a liar, so... we should have seen all of that coming.

Now, a melee dps in heavy armor shouldn't be a surprise at all. It gives you more survivability, more power (literally), helps you get healed where the tank might also get damaged (being up, close, and personal with the boss), and just looks better than medium.

What we can see, though, is that they released this game with far fewer choices than any MMO wanting to be successful should have released. 4 classes, trees that basically overlap, are filled with trivial/PvP-only skills, and one way to effectively tank and heal? Come on... Heck, even Final Fantasy games offer more selection than that, and you have no choice on how the game goes.

It's clear, now, that all this game is is a multiplayer Elder Scrolls 5.5 (not quite 6. I mean, it has all the bugs we can expect, and some of the same elements, but not quite there in terms of difference and uniqueness). Really disappointed and wish I had waited in retrospect.

You can play and spec and gear the way you want to, but if your serious about endgame then you have no other option then to go with the basic min/max.
No way around it unless you want to gimp your raid to oblivion :disappointed:
