Chef/Brewer merchants no longer selling recipes

Since patch, this merchants seem to no longer sell the recipes needed for daily crafting writs, so I can't do writs on my new characters.

I went through the patch notes and didn't notice anything related was mentioned, so maybe it is a bug?

Any thoughts? Guild traders never have those on sale, I haven't been able to get them since I created my characters :(

They seem to be available for higher level characters - at least they are on my 50s, in Vivec. So you can buy them for your newbies at least with a 50.

I may be able to help if you are on PC NA 🙂

The recipes are definitely still there for my PC NA and PC EU mains, who are master Provisioners. Maybe it's more to do with the passives than with the Provisioning level per se?

My suggestion, if you don't have a character who can purchase the needed recipes for your lower-level alts, is to ask in zone chat or guild chat to see if anyone is willing to buy the recipes and then sell them to you at cost. There are sure to be a lot of players who'll want to charge you a higher price and turn a profit, or who'll expect you to tip them generously for taking up a few minutes of their precious time. But there are also a lot of players who would be happy to help you by selling at cost and not asking for a tip. If you ask but can't find anyone who'll help you for no profit and no tip, just wait a bit and ask again later-- just don't spam the zone chat or guild chat with your requests, because some players are probably mean-spirited enough to report you for that even though you're just trying to deal with a problem caused by a bug.

Couldn't find a recipe I needed in Northern Elyswehr, but trying another chef in a base zone worked for me.

Did the recipes show up at all for you in Northern Elsweyr? The reason I ask is because there are certain recipes which seem to vary based on your character's race or alliance, so you'll get writs for them on sone characters but not on other characters, and to purchase those recipes you might need to visit a chef or brewer in a specific zone or alliance. For instance, one such drink is Iron-Bog Ale, which I get writs for on my EP characters but not on my other characters. I thought it might depend on which zone I'm in when I accept the writs, but even after I relocated all of my characters to Vivec City they continue to receive requests for different things based on their alliances.

Hmmm...every recipe I've needed for daily writs the chef has had as well as the innkeeper for drinks.

haven't checked every vendor but looks like in starter zones like Bal foyen, Stros etc - they have ALLL the recipe for every level of cooking. they used to disappear as you leveled up your cooking, but now they are ALL there. its nice

Well my level 31 cannot find single recipe for sale at chefs and brewers, even in starting zones. I Have 11 level 50 characters who never had this problem when levelling. Yet another bug since the latest patch. Great stuff!

As I suggested above, you might try asking in guild chat or zone chat if a fellow player would be so kind as to purchase the needed recipe(s) for you, and then you would pay them back. There should be plenty of players who would be only too glad to help you out.

If you're in any guilds, you might also check the guild banks, as the recipe(s) might be there. Some guilds let members freely withdraw items from the guild bank (within reason), while other guilds prefer to restrict access to trusted long-term members but encourage lower-ranking members to contact a higher-ranking member to request items from the guild bank.

Rimmen in Northern Elswyer is where I have my lower-level crafting toons parked. The chef seems to only have the same drink recipes as the brewer and no food recipes. So, when I advanced my provisioning level on a toon and needed to buy a new food and drink recipe for the daily crafting writs, both had the drink recipe I needed but not the food recipe.

On a whim, I tried traveling to Vivec City (since many people in my guilds are in Vvardenfell - usually that specific city - so it was easy to quickly travel to them and unlock that wayshrine for baby toon) and the chefs upstairs in the second pyramid had everything I needed.

So, some of you may want to swing by Vivec City and see if that works for you. So far, two of my toons affected by this have moved from Rimmen to Vivec for the time-being and their new recipe needs have been met.
