I don't know if it has anything to do with the current event but last night I decided to wind down with a little fishing, odd thing is I fished 3 holes and only caught common fish and I've never seen that before, there is always a mix. it was very late so I went to bed after the 3 holes.. I'll do more later today to see what's going on with it.

You can only get one of the trophy fish for the achievement anyway so even double drops of them means nothing but an extra 250g for a blue fish.
Why can't we just get a fishing event or have double fish drops anyway. Encourage people to fish.

It also doesn't double bugs/moths/etc. and meat drops from deer and such.

What makes fishing sad, to me, is that I had more fun finding the fishing holes and scooping up resource nodes, chests, and thieves troves, than I did doing the actual fishing. Even the final reward for Master Anglers was a letdown. People tell you that you get a boat. Most never mention that it's some rinky-*** sailboat.

I've done two Master Anglers but won't be doing anymore unless ZOS improves things.
