If it meant we had even more choices to customize our characters, such as choosing among skill lines, that could be great, but otherwise, no, I am not in favor of reworking classes as that may ruin key abilities and playstyles for people. There are many changes one will endure in a game they otherwise enjoy and have invested time and money in. When the way your main character(s) work brings you frustration instead of being enjoyable, that is too much. It is why I stopped playing GW2 last year; their class reworks were **** and removed options and narrowed “choices” into only specific set-ups being viable.

I'd like to see a rework on skill lines in general. They could expand on what is currently available instead of adding a new class.

1 - every patch everybody gets some kind of "rework"

2- I'd rather have no classes and only skill lines
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I do, but with current combat team I'm pretty sure it would turn against us yet again. I'd take "unwork" when our classes uniqueness were readded to the game again and then working from that direction rather than shifting some of them even further from player desires. For some it would be getting their flaming winged dk again and gaining finally their stamina whip (be it rock, poisons whatever) as an example, design ideas should have players in mind also and not only their inner documentation, like also not a class should be nerfed to the ground but new trials/sets should be adjusted that way so stripping unique features isn't required every single time. But my day dream has ended and we're here lmao.

id rather theyadd something to each class etc. whether it be something that buffs the class, or something the class has needed for awhile, that way they dont have to rework any of the skills/skilllines and instead just add in something.

Definitely fix the game first, but after that i would love to see a templar rework.
( I know there is already a taskforce supposed to be in place to upgrad templar)

It sadly ended up one of the most useless classes in terms of group composition in PvE content.
Especially from a healer point of view.
With the new changes to meele taunt, templar only offers one unique buff at the moment.

And the time with templar beeing the best class for healing is long gone. It has been replaced with warden and necro, nb heal now also offer viable alternatives with way more potential group support.

For DD's mag plar is okay, but not best in slot.
While as a stamina DD it is the most boring class ever. You only need jabs.

That's a vague question. Why are you asking? What are the problems with classes as they stand?

"I like capes" seemed like a suitably vague answer. I should have said "no", though. I like the old classes better than the new ones. Warden is a boring class and necro (which I don't own) seems fundamentally a carbon copy. Blastbones = another flavor of Shalks. As a PvPer the class-defining skills are the following in my book:

    Streak
    Cloak and Shadow Image
    DK Leap

Templar players would probably add Extended Ritual, though I simply like templar for it's complete toolkit with AOE, burst, gap closer, reliable CC and execute skills.

Magden is extremely lacking in comparison. It's buff-heavy and lacks situational skills. Random CCs don't count and are not conducive to skilled gameplay. There are fun skills, such as the teleport rune and swing to friendly player ones, but they're such non-essential skills that they don't rise to define the class and make you want to play it like Streak, Cloak, Shadow Image and Leap do.

If there's a mobility-theme to the skills I favor, that is perhaps no accident and might expose my personal bias, but I don't think anyone will really argue with the above list from a PvP perspective.

Based on their track record, I would not like the current combat team to have a go at reworking the older classes. Quite the opposite, in fact.

To further elaborate, the current combat team has destroyed magblade PvP playstyles with their bean-counter approach to class design. The older design team seemed to have a vision as to how magblade plays. For example this was evident in the multiple options the class had to obtain speed, among them Crippling Grasp. Keeping out of the clutches of melee players with that skill was never the easiest thing to do, but nonetheless the combat team saw fit to limit Major Expedition to the most nonsensical skill that had that buff, Path of Darkness. Their skill audit wasn't entirely pointless. I think overall balance is actually quite good and current build variety quite high from my perspective as a CP PvPer. However their skill audit was IMO also hap-hazard and likely performed by rote in cases such as the above.

It's contradictory in my view for the OP to call for balancing issues to be put aside and for the classes to be reworked - they are in many respects one and the same thing, you can't do one without the other.

I have no issues with the classes, they're fine for my style of play as is, and I would be opposed in any event to the loss of a structured class system, but while I can understand some players with different playstyles feeling differently and wanting the classes reworked, aren't they in many cases the same players complaining about how ZOS are constantly messing with things and can't get it right when they do make changes?

It seems to me that what is mainly needed at the moment is a period of stability rather than further change, so that those with performance and stability problems can see ZOS working on fixing them rather than risking making additional problems by introducing what may be largely unnecessary changes at an inopportune time. Doubtless fixing those problems may involve some limited tweaking to the classes - or more specifically the different builds within the classes - but as for more substantial reworking of the classes, this isn't the time for that.

It depends on what you mean by "rework". That's just asking for a change without specifying what that change is, it could be good, could be bad, without knowing what you actually want changed there's no way to tell.

For example if templar was 'reworked' to make them purely focused on the heavy armoured tank 'paladin' theme many people see for them my templar would be completely ruined and I'd probably delete them (my oldest character) to restart as a different class, since class change isn't possible.

Whereas if there was less emphasis on spammable spear skills and a bit more variety in how their damage skills work that could be a good change which would make them more interesting for me.

Also I agree with the people saying you can't put balance aside to focus on changing classes, unless you mean purely cosmetic changes to animations. Balance and reworking classes is the same thing. At best re-doing them without any consideration for balance means ending up with a totally unbalanced mess which I don't think would be fun for anyone.

I'd say the base classes are better and more solid than Warden and Necromancer. When ZOS made them, it feels to me they wanted to avoid the new ones being too powerful they got weaker than the 4 ones instead. I get, since the new ones are paid, so they avoided the "pay2win" thing. However...

My love for Necromancer/Darkness oriented class is what keeps me playing as one. Magicka Necromancer is a bad position right now, to say the least (speaking of Damage). I need to pull a lot more effort to kill someone in PvP than I did with my Magsorc before switching. Flame Skull is so slow people evade it with no problem, and brings little to nothing new to the table.

@Tandor apologies I wasn't clear enough. What I meant is not to ignore the balancing issue at all, but assume that in a perfect world where classes are balanced and game is not bugged, would you like to see a rework for the classes, obviously after rework changes they will be balanced as well.

Essentially the question is something along the lines of "do you want older classes to have more flavour" with answers like (examples) "classes have enough flavour and fine as they are" and "I dont trust zos to rework classes well, both balance and flavour wise".

Obviously rework that says "sorcs one shot everything" is not the kind of rework I am talking about.

Idk if I want to see a full rework of the older classes, but I would definitely like to see the older classes get an un-nerfing (i.e. re-buffed) to be more competitive. I know that there are a lot of abilities for the older classes that have been nerfed into irrelevance, and it would be nice to see some of those abilities buffed back up to their former glory.

I guess if Zos isn't willing to do that, then I'd be open to a rework, but I think that just isn't necessary when they can just re-buff the classes that have been hit too heavily with the nerf hammer.

The funny thing is that a templar DD, especially a stamplar, works by being built and played very aggressively in PvP. It works by putting people on the defensive and this has IMO been recognised by ZOS. It's spammable is clunky. It points in one direction, it's a channel that leaves you open to counter-attack (can't be block-cast) and it's not a given that all 4 hits connect with the target. ZOS gave that skill a lot of power as a result, and rightly so. As things stand it's IMO something that templar needs in order to function. The players who make that class really work are anything but tanks.
